Wow fair collection - cant compete with that - I have had a long list of bikes with one or two outstanding ones but never more than two at once.... never had enough money :)

Cool photo of the Zed on the Col -well kitted out luggage wise - were you camping ? esp like the ladies red handbag and you in trainers and a pisspot
83 is a bit before I made my first trip out to france on a bike, my first time would be in 89 I think on a new Yam FZ750........ best hols I ever had - motorbike/young woman on the back/money in your pocket/no work for 2 weeks and french roads with no speed cameras waiting ...... happy days :)
Photo is 92 Loire Valley
booked two ready erected 6 berth tents, with Canvas Holidays, down on the Med. a couple of hundred miles apart .. week in each and hotel-ed it down and back, dawdling Grau du Roi in the Carmague for the first week and Cavalaire, not far from St Trop for the second. Was a great way to get a taste :giggle: and TBH it wasn't dear back then either.
The red bag's the girlfriend's ... she took the pic. an' me boots and leather jeans were strapped/bunjee-ed on the back ... only bimbling along gawping at the scenery which was jaw dropping ... lost a boot not long after, in the main street of Val, but saw it take off in me mirror fortunately ... Ski-ed Val in '92, week before the olympics started ... went and found that sign and had a pic of us stood in front of it on skis, dressed to the eyeballs .. was bitter .... house got burgled when I got back and the camera went with the film in, so never got to see the pix :cry: .... we also got a severe bollocking last thing on our last day .... doing the men's down hill :giggle::giggle: ....took our lift passes .. which really pissed them off ... when they looked at 'em ..... was some hairy run that !! .... needless to say we came down it a bit slower than the racers did the following week

as for the "piss pot" .... I have several full face, but ride open face more often than not ... so much nicer, with the bugs in yer teef !!:giggle::giggle: Bit harsh in the pissing rain though :confused: and waaaaaay too hot in Froggy with a full face - just gotta look out for the mantis,s ... they bloody hurt o_O

all this talk of bikes is making me 'restless'

I would be too scared to ride in a piss pot 🤔 had some big offs racing and once on the road where the chin piece has taken some proper damage....God knows what my chin would look like now !

Get something fired up and get back down here for a trip ✌✌ You can have a run on the KTM might leave it in rain mode for the first 1/2 hr though 😜

dirt's more forgiving than black top  ....

have been up the road a couple of times..... laid it down once to avoid T boning some prick in an Ovlov who "didn't see me":mad: ... I know she had ... we'd made eye contact and she could not have missed the two tones blasting at her 40 ft away !!:mad::mad:

and once when the front end stepped out on a huge gravel patch ... like only the frogs can create on a bend .... just outside Grenoble ... throw-overs wrapped 'emselves round the other half and she abandoned ship ... sat in the road watching me hang onto the Zed, stopping it high siding and destroying itself as we slid up the black top ... leathered up on both occasions fortunately ..... came home from Grenoble in a car after leaving the Zed's alternator on the frog road .... and the bike in a recovery place there :( .... they did more damage repatriating it than I did chucking it
plenty of offs off road though  .... never fancied black top racing :rolleyes:o_O

I actually hated the way it drove when i bought it home it was horrible compared to Porsche 911s and 996's that i have owned, But once i got it home i went right through it, some of what i have done as follows, New modified fuseboxes which gets a decent current to everything, i had a classic car auto electrician come over and spend a day on it sorting everything, fresh engine oil, fresh expensive gearbox oil, new plugs, leads, distributor caps, rotor arms, i rebuilt the warm up regulator, replaced fuel hoses, fuel pump and accumulator, rear brake calipers, suspension rebuilt with shocks, stainless exhaust system, i now have a reliable usable Ferrari that starts first time and drives superbly with not rattles or clonks from the suspension, It sounds great too, wherever i go in it people stop me or give the thumbs up, Since putting the stainless system on it i have really noticed a performance gain. Its so basic no electronic gadgets or ABS, air bags and pretty easy to work on, i was thinking of selling and getting a Gallardo but then i think of the bills that can come with it!
