OEM loader valve for JCB 214S backhoe?

Does anyone have any idea who the Original Equipment Manufacturer is that makes replacement loader valves for older JCB backhoes?

My machine is an older 214S with a three spool Hamworthy valve block. See attachment for model/serial numbers on valve block. It looks like Hydreco now owns what used to be Hamworthy, but the rep I spoke with did not know of a replacement.

A replacement is available through JCB, but the price they want to charge me, here in the US, is ridiculous. And they won’t share OEM information.

The JCB serial number for the backhoe is available if it can help anyone.

I'm guessing it can't be that hard to change it to any three spool jobby? Might have to fab a new mounting bracket that's all.

Give us a laugh, how much? Does it top Terex's offer of £890+VAT for a £25 electric fuel pump?

try some of the old JCB pages on FB .... some very knowledgeable people frequent them and a lot of ex JCB employees, one of whom is ex storeman with encyclopedic knowledge of the older machines

Mounting a new valve block would be easy enough, but the pumbing is unconventional. There are two inlet ports, and ports for the high speed hydraulic control.

I was quoted 4376.28 US dollars for the valve block, plus probably 10% for shipping.

I’ve had to do quite a bit of work to this JCB. I’ve found it’s usually cheaper to have a machine shop custom build parts for this thing, rather than buy through JCB.

I can share other parts prices. Some are way more out of line than this valve block. JCB has become kind of a joke in the US for this reason. I saw a quote recently. A man said, “a JCB will break your heart and your bank account the first year you have it. You can find women like this, too.”

Wish I knew all this before I bought the machine.

The bloke who owns it is called Tony, went down there the other month looking for something, it really is an Aladdin‘s Cave with what he has there, and sure he’d be able to help you out, he sends stuff all over the world, at the time they were loading up with about 30 odd axles that were off Poland, if I remember.... beleave it’s the same place that Eddie mentioned years ago on the old forum....could get lost for hours in there.
