(Not so) Golden oldie vibrating roller

Hiya,

I have a (roughly 1995) Bedford TV 100 tandem ride on roller.
It has an issue when you turn the vibration on, the machine vibrates fine it seems, but then when you turn steering left or right even the slightest amount it cuts out the vibrate almost entirely.
I don’t think it’s any loose electrical wires as I have checked connections and wire conditions as much as I could and replaced where needed, it seems to happen even when I just move the steering a few millimetres, it seems as soon as the steering needs hydraulic pressure it drops the vibrate.

I have a hydraulic filter on the way (one that is connected directly to the pump at the front) I’m not sure if there’s any more that I might need to change.

Is there any test I can do to check to see if it’s a pump problem or a priority valve problem or any other mechanical problem?

Many thanks

Photo of roller, and engine and pumps
Pics.
Im not sure which engine it is possible Deutz F2L.

It has a big hydraulic unit at the front of the engine and a small one at the back im not sure what these are possibly the pumps.

It has a steering orbitrol with a priority valve attached to it.

The front big pump has a hydraulic ram next to it that is controlled with the foot pedal which pushes a leaver that goes into the pump (if it is a pump) the movement of the leaver controls forward and reverse.

There was no metal shavings in the bottom of the tank when i emptied to swap the suction filter, there was a little bit of gunk that i cleaned from the bottom (not much)

It’s what I do!
The bit on the end of I remember is a generator to charge the battery, does it steer alright without the vibration on?

Yes it steers fine without vibration on. It still steers fine with vibration on, just vibration drops to almost nothing as soon as you touch the steering as soon as you let go of the steering the vibrate is fine again .

what're the two leads(?) taped up with red tape ??
sounds like it could be a priority valve issue (or very low on oil/blocked pick up strainer ?)

The wires are just the stator wires taped up as im having trouble with that too. 😂
Oil is correct level and pick up is new.

Is there a way to test to see if it is a weak pump?
I have some cheap gauges.

Can i put them on the outlet of the pump, but what tests are best to do? Do i turn steering to full lock and hold to see if the pressure drops?
Also what should the pressure be for the small pump

need to tee the gauges into P lines to see what they're 'running at' ... dead ending will give you the RV pressures (relief valve)

Can i put the gauge on to this test fitting circled red?
What am i looking for with regards to pressures?

yep, that looks like a Stauf pressure test point - look for more too - they're all over my Duck ... can also get Tee in test points - M/F with a port in the branch that you can insert in a line if there isn't one where you want it - like these
