I would not have welded it across the dipper - sets up stress points across a box section, done like thatPV Dobson did a great job of fitting my new grapple/grab. I have had a play with a pile of large lumps of stone and I have to say, it’s rather good.
just goes to show, the dealer isn’t always right!I would not have welded it across the dipper - sets up stress points across a box section, done like that... along the length of the section is way better
just a bead of sikaflex or sili across the dipper to seal off any water ingress and two good runs down the length'd've been my preferred method ... keep an eye on the parent material where the weld meets the dipper's material for any signs of cracks .. it's going to be well stressed doing what it's doing -- unlikely to appear for quite a while, but forewarned is fore armedjust goes to show, the dealer isn’t always right!
I was thinking exactly the same thing...I would not have welded it across the dipper - sets up stress points across a box section, done like that... along the length of the section is way better
