Mobile and fixed truck setups and equipment: considerations, opinions:
Hi, I've seen that truck setups and equipment have evolved. First, there were fixed equipment, such as a tipper body, crane, cement mixer, pump, ladder, or other fixed equipment. Then came the hooklift or skip loader. Now, there's detachable equipment, meaning a truck on which you can mount a cement mixer, a cargo bed, or a platform with ramps for transporting self-propelled machinery. What do you think about this versatile evolution to reduce costs? What's the best setup? Thanks.

Not very popular in the UK. In fact apart from a few hookloaders with a hiab body, I don't think I've ever seen one in the UK. Bizarre especially for gritters that sit there for 360 days of the year. When the people driving them are the ones that would normally drive the little tarmac trucks and definitely won't be double shifting.

Thanks for your clarifying intervention. A truck is gaining popularity here. You use it as a tipper, crane, or cement mixer, or to transport construction machinery. Like a road tractor or tractor unit, you attach a tanker, a trailer with a box, or a closed trailer, depending on your transport needs. A versatile tractor unit or tractor unit, depending on the type of transport. You don't have a large fleet of vehicles, but a variety of equipment and setups based on your company's needs. This reduces maintenance, insurance, road tax, and vehicle management costs.
