Microsoft Project

Hi all,

Does anyone use Microsoft Project or recommend any other software for Project Management? Bulk of our work is small scale new build and largish extensions, although hoping to focus more on the new stuff in future if poss.

Up to now I’ve just used a spreadsheet with cells highlighted across each week but it’s pretty basic and everything has to be changed manually so looking for something which is a bit more autonomous.

I use MS project at a basic level to produce bar chart programs for jobs.

It’s got a lot of more complex functions as well which allows you to put prices and Labour levels against each line so at the rand of each month you update your progress on the job and it calculates your monthly valuations etc.

That’s a bit above me to use but for scheduling a project it’s easy enough to use.

I don’t have anything to compare it with other that I very briefly had a look at an ‘Open Office’ type equivalent but didn’t get on with it so stumped up the cash for a copy of Project.
