Measuring flat face fittings

My logical head says when ordering flat face fittings you’d take the actual fitting size as the bit you want?
I ordered a 1/2 of the fella and got sent 3/8th fitting with a 1/2 thread…. To me that’s just wrong?
To be fair he hadn’t specified where his measurements were take from but the holmbury guide says they are 3/8th fittings with 1/2 thread? I have told him he needs to be more spesific in his listing.

very difficult things to buy remotely ... need to go with the rated body size (and DN [HQ in his table] number in some listings) ....... so many variations

Yep. I just realised some of his listings are really vague and some have sizes in etc which is odd.. will just reorder and keep for spares.

The faces have designations in multiple standards. DN and ISO are the most common.

So when ordering you order ‘DN06 with a 1/2” bsp thread’

However, I’ve had issues where suppliers don’t use this and say ‘so you want 1/2” body?’ This drives me nuts as literally no part of a DN06 body measures remotely close to 1/2”.

Using fractions as the denominator for both the body and thread is begging for misunderstandings.

If everyone used the DN or ISO standard there would be no confusion.

More the question is if he’s marketing them as 1/2 fittings, would one naturally expect to get a 1/2 thread with 3/8 face?

I use a local independent mobile lad. He will nip out anytime to drop off what you need or even leave them in a safe place. That way you know what your getting is right.
Obviously he does hoses too and there's no problem if he only comes to make the hose up or whether it's to diagnose the leak and repair or fit ect ect.
I always give him a tip. As he's so reasonably priced too and actually tells you the truth with how far away he is

Used to have a guy like that, and a tyre guy the same.. takes a very long time to find folk you can just ring up and not have to price check constantly & can trust etc!
