Lewis Badger 2

Hi, Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on a Lewis Badger 2 2005. I've just bought one for restoration! I'm told that they were basically a Ford tractor with Ford hydrostatic running gear! My problem is I need a cab door and have not been able to locate one! I'm hoping I can find a ford one that will fit but need some advise on what model Ford I should be looking at? Many thanks for any advise! 😁

IIRC there was a guy joined here recently who has a peach of one ..... can't recall his ID :( .... anyone?????

Hello there, I've got a fairly well restored Badger Mk1 with 2 doors, I believe this is based on the Ford 1520 running gear at least. Not sure about the Mk2, I think this only has the one door ?? Just wondering if you've tried talking to Barbara at [email protected] ?? She was very helpful with a few queries I had and may be able to point you in the right direction.

Hi Sandy, Thanks for the heads up! I think the main difference is the MK2 has a Izuzu motor! I've been talking to Barbara but she can't help with a wiring diagram, Lewis is not actually owned by Lewis anymore and the new owners only inherited parts lists and no real tech info! My probs are the previous owner of my one had a problem with the hydrostatic drive and canibalized the wiring with no outcome! Im in the process of having to point to point every wire to understand whats going on! I have no power to the colomn switch or to the diverter valve to operate the swash plate! All fuses and relays are good! So a lot off head scratching going on. Was hoping by some slim chance someone might have an old copy of a wiring diagram, But not holding my breath! Cheers for the reply!

Hi all, Ive now rewired the Badger and have tons of notes to turn into wiring diagrams! I found loads of breaks in the looms! Now all valves are working but the hydrostatic drive is still not running! My understanding of it is the low pressure circuit is a closed circuit that controls flow to the swash plates on the high pressure open circuit? So would this mean as ive had the pump and valves off that the low pressure closed circuit be empty of fluid and needs bleeding to get fluid into it? I know the high pressure circuit dumps back to the tank, But the closed circuit dont, So no place for air to escape! Please if anyone can concur? If so where would the best place to bleed? Thanks!

I think I have found the problem with the drive, When I bought the machine, The bloke told me he had put a sleeve over the top hydraulic hose to stop it rubbing! Never had a thought about it until I cut the sleeve off today! Anyone else see the problem! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::mad:

Unless I’m missing something it should still function as a hose if not leaking.

That ones on the suction side of the closed circuit, So would only suck in air rather than spit out fluid.
To be fair, I would have said the same until I received a few quotes to come look at the machine and nearly passed out! So paid for an online course for hydrostatic drives at a fraction of the price, To find that hose should not be bone dry but have a 25 Bar pressure and wet :LOL:
