kx36-3 idler is wobbly

first time here .....i tightened up my tracks cos they were a bit saggy, and then one of the idlers started making a loud intermittant squeaky sound. When i lifted up the tracks and ran them unloaded i could see the idler sometimes sticking and the track sliding over it. I loosened up the tension and now it stopped squeaking, but im worried i need a new idler? Its got a bit of play in it i.e it wobbles a bit by hand when the tracks are off the floor. Any thoughts? thanks in advance.

Need a new idler or bearings as the bearings have collapsed

if you're lucky and you've caught it early enough, you may be able to just replace the bearings (if it has removable/replaceable bearings) before the shaft/spindle gets damaged

I had exactly the same on my Yanmar B15-3 a few years back i did some work for someone and noticed a squeeking noise when tracking, When I got the machine home I found movement in the idler, The bearing was shot, I checked the bottom rollers too and found that they were all showing wear so I ended up overhauling both sides of the undercarriage, TBH the parts were not that expensive so it was worth overhauling the lot.

many thanks all, i'll have a look inside and see the bearings. I know about the tensioning measurements thats why i tightened it up in the first place
