Jcb hydraulic oil

Hi guys.
I have an old jcb 801.4, that I'm working with, and I have a question about hydraulic oil.
I have replaced it with HP46, but when the oil is getting really hot, I can hear the pump is struggling and is making a bit of noise and I can feel that I'm loosing power.
I'm living in Romania, where is getting quite hot during the summer.
Shall I go for a high viscosity oil?
What do you recommend?

HP46 is good for ambient temperatures around 30 degrees C , for warmer climates you need HP68.

I would be surprised if it ever had HP68 in it though?

Was this happening with the old oil in the machine? How long ago did you change it?
Check the oil cooler is clean and clear, it maybe not cooling the oil as efficiently as it should.
Also check that suction hose to the pump is not collapsing when it’s hot and causing cavitation.

I am thinking that a thicker oil will protect the hydraulic system.
Obviously, when the oil is getting hot, it will become thinner and the pump can be damaged.

I've noticed that the main boom piston is leaking by the seal. Just a bit. Can this be the source of the problem?

So you changed the oil in winter? Why now do you think it is the cause of the problem?
Check the things I listed above first before you change the oil, would be my advice.
A leaking ram would not contribute to the issue, in my opinion.
