JCB 8014 cts

Hi all so I’m new here and looking for a bit of advice? I’ve just bought a 8014cts, whilst tracking if you lower the rh lever slightly to make the machine turn right whilst tracking it won’t start to turn right whilst moving forwards, but will turn left when you do the opposite. It’s almost as if the the Lh track doesn’t have anywhere near as much power as the rh track. If when on the spot on grass you just push the Lh lever forward it hardly tries to turn right. But if you just push the rh lever forwards the machine starts turning on the spot. Now I know to turn on the spot is 1 lever forwards and 1 lever backwards but by pushing just the he Lh lever forwards you can feel there’s no power. Any ideas on what it might be would be hugely appreciated. Thanks

I have a 8018 that is basically the same. It used to do what you are talking about. The track controls are just a couple of pushrods that move the control valves. One of mine was bent, not straight like they should be and as a result out of adjustment. Try taking off the inspection plate under the door and see if the valves have full range of motion. The entire valve body is mounted on a plate that was also loose. So one motor would work only when the other was in the opposite direction. Its only four screws to see what I'm talking about but you might as well learn how to tilt the cab. It's kind of sad I know all the wrenches and sockets to grab to tilt the cab

Hi Mes, I’ve actually had the ca b up today whilst having a look over the machine, the track rods seemed pretty straight from memory and nothing seemed bent etc. one thing I did check today was the hydraulic fluid, the guy I bought it from said reach the digging arm right out then check the hydraulic oil level then as all the oil will be back in the tank that way, I did this and the spy glass showed about half full. Would adding more oil benefit this? I will pull the cab again tomorrow and have another look at the levers just in case I’ve missed something. Also was going to check the oil in the track motors was the right level in case it was anything to do with that.

I'm sorry for discribing what I found the way I did. I saw the result of the problem (bent rod) at first thought that was it but not the real problem. The valve body should not move or one can not adjust those pushrods. Just push it fore and aft, if it moves its not tight. There is another coverplate under the cab, sort of in board of the inspection plate I mentioned, there are three bolts holding the valve body in place. They should be tight. Afterwards check if there is like 10mm travel both ways for the control valves.

Oil in track motors is for the gear reduction , if that is the problem , not good. Hope you are just not getting full hydraulic flow from a valve body issue.

What colour was the track motor reduction box oil? Same advice as to others! swap the hoses from left track to right at the spool section, trace them by the rods that move!
