Jcb 3CX Plus 1997 with power shift......no low ratio when switched on control panel

HI Guys i have now a different issue relating to the low ratio feature it does not work ie it doesn't change down in forward speed in any of the 4 power shift speeds on the steering column stalk The light on the switch illuminates when operated but no difference happens to speed etc i have also tried it in the 4 wheel braked and 4 wheel drive with 4 wheel braking positions on the dash board ,any ideas or anybody had previous similar problem and how to solve would be much appreciated .Thankyou in advance again to everybody that has been kind enough to assist before .Dave

i cant remember a low ratio option on any 3cx i have ever seen or used, or is it the rotary part of the direction stalk thats not working, never had problems on that on any of the powershift machines 4 or 6 speed. i dont think any change down automatically maybe sixspeed autoshift but i cant remember it happening. i may be understanding your question wrong though.

I assume he means it’s stuck in 4th and won’t shift back down? Not sure

Sounds like solenoid cap, solenoid or relay to me, try it switched off, turn control back to one, and switch back on!

thats what I thought too but he has mentioned the 4 wheel drive button with the light on so maybe thinks the single pump switch (same as the 4 wheel drive button) makes the machine slower

I remember doing my first full days hire age 16 with the turtle switch accidentally switched on, wondered why the machine was so slow, until I was packing up and turned it off.. long day.. long time ago

Yep!
The manual refers to 'low ratio' gear sets, so when I took delivery of mine, I kept flicking the switch trying to get it to drop into a low range before realising it wasn't going to happen!
