they are, by all accounts, a good firm to be employed by.
Josh, Vicki and her now hubby have all worked for the local Waitrose at some time or other when they were younger and all speak highly of their time there ... good bonuses too and staff discounts. Think their 'stakeholder'/partner approach is a successful recipe for keeping their staff happy and long serving

In my yout I worked for ocado.. I was a picker and packer on temp work in the fridges. This is going back now 18 years and tbh It was a great place to work. Good work ethic, team management, subsidized lunches and very clean facility's pay was reasonable too for my skillset I would love to do it again for a day. Infact recently going into the fridge at our local booker wholesale place the smell reminded me of it which genuinely gave me a fuzzy belly feeling about growing up and experiences

yes almost certainly they'd have been coveting them.
Had the retirement sector falling over themselves for my old site ... and played them off against each other to max them all out, with McCarthy and Stone topping them all ...
flat, level, acre+ site in the centre of town, bus station outside the door, train station a five minute walk and three supermarkets just as close, with a park and river alongside it ... they were wetting themselves for it .....
McC & S's main land buyer/director openly admitted it was one of the best sites they'd ever been offered -- after I'd told him it was
... I've had dealings with most of 'em and they'd be drooling over those sites, as you say

My missus loves shopping in Waitrose. On the odd occasion I've been in (years ago now), I always found the checkout girls to be more 'wholesome' than your average Donna at Tescos.all the kids've had a few stints in the local Waitrose .. once you've gotten yer feet in there they're usually happy to have you back and as you say ... clean environment to work in - bonuses - perks - what's not to like

they seem to be strict as well on the sale of leases from something i got told, sales all have to be handled through them etc, its a captive market for them i guess they are building anoter block in my home town the third or fourth may even be more.McC&S don't build care homes Stu --retirement apts. .......... where you look after yourself

There was a time when if I felt the need for a Waitrose visit when I was working away I just looked out for a tower crane. Very often it would be another retirement block being built and usually within sight of a Waitrose 
I am now conditioned to get a rumbly tummy or get propper grapefruit juice cravings just at the sight of a tower crane
