Hyundai Pressure Washer fault

Have a petrol hyundai p washer that has lost pressure. Thought it was the lance (may still be i'll strip again tomorrow)
Is there a way of checking pressure?

Put a gauge inline. You can get them on eBay.

Possible causes:

Worn nozzle
Blocked water intake gauze
Recirculating valve open (if fitted)
Chemical intake valve admitting air (if fitted)

Or the pump seals are on the way out. Best to stick with a decent pump like Interpump or Antonio Reverbi.


I’ve not known a Hyundai pump last many hours of commercial use, sad to say.

Did wonder about air. Ran dry of petrol then poor pressure.
Changed nozzles stripped lance

If it happened suddenly it isn’t likely to be something worn . I would check the recirculating valve as said above.

The said valve I'm sure is sticking. Sometimes it will work straight away other times have to twist the knob and tap the casing.
Is there a way of greasing it or any other ideas?

Is this the knob that reduced pressure? Mine on my cleanwell has stopped working recently. Seems to turn ok. From what I can see it just gives the water inlet a bypass route to the other side of the pump, reducing the amount of water going through the pump chamber. Did wonder if it’s getting clogged with lime scale.

Its frustrating 1 day it will start straight away other days you have to stop and start mess about with valve etc.
Good point last job it was on was unfiltered well water very high limescale content. Could be that

If it's like mine there are 6 valves on the pressure washer casing with hex heads 3 inlet and 3 outlet if any of them get a bit of crap in them they back feed and you loose all pressure take them out and clean them carefully they are usually plastic

Or it could be the bypass valve sticking

Forgot about this.
I stripped the outer section and found i think 3 brass bushes i think they were, all had o rings or rubber washer mounted on spindles. 1 of the bushes was around the opposite way to the other 2 and had slightly flat edge on the rubber where it had been located. I turned said bush put it back together and hey presto.
I had it repaired not long after I bought it as somehow a washer had got in the engine, I think it was either like it from the factory or when it was repaired
