Anyone downplated a 5 ton van to 3.5 then it should tow 3.5ton

Could be pointless as the 5t van unladen will more than likely weigh more than what a 3.5t van unladen would weigh so you would lose payload on the vehicle.

Seen them advertised. Sometimes the van payload is not the issue as they can’t fit a digger in the van which they need to tow!! My Iveco which is rated at 3500 has a tool store and enclosed tipper. Was used for woodchip previously. Trailer rows the digger. Gives me some capacity to throw a couple of buckets in the tipper but not much else!!

I personally wouldn't think it's worth the effort IMHO. People I know have done it due to wanting to run 5-7t vans without a O License, then run heavy and bent as f**k....

Only plus point I can see is you’d have a tacho allready fitted if you needed it when towing for work etc.

Yea, someone mentioned them on the old forum, I called them about uprating the towing capacity on my van. Very help over the phone told me it could be done but id only get 2.8ton so for an 800kg it was going to cost me about 2k
