Doosan DX140-3 final drive problem.

Evening folks

I meed to strip out a final drive but I’m struggling to remove the holding plate from the inner gears.
The hex key bolts have been punched around the edge to keep them in place but they are impossible to get out!
Any ideas??

looks like you've already tried what'd've been my first suggestion and drilled the punchings ...... as Bob says - could well be left hand thread ... tried an impact driver and a good whack.......dare say they'm drowned in loctite
if you knacker the hexs, weld a decent washer on the head, then a larger one and then a decent size nut on top .... by that time the heat'd've cooked any loctite and you'd have a decent size head to get a 6 sided socket onto
obviously cover everything bar the bit you're welding with very wet rags to stop the spatter getting to/stuck to everything else

I would be looking for a bit of copper round bar and filing a hex on one end roughly right and give it a bit of a beating to swell it into the hex socket. Then heat the end of the copper bar to bright cherry red and the heat will transfer into the body of the screw.

Drill the punch marks, and apply a slight bit of heat as it likely has loctite on it.

Use a good Allen head socket and tap it well into the bolt... even a few sharp taps will help loosen it.

thought you already had, looking at the pic .... guess some one'd already done that on the previous bolt and then punched a new bolt into the countersink created ...... then give the bolt head a couple of sharp, hard whacks, to shock any loctite, with a nice flat ended hard punch -- soft one'll absorb the shock - you want to transfer it into the bolt threads (y)
