Bobcat 5t excavators- under-powered?

A mate is looking at trading up from his 3.5t digger to a 5t machine. He was planning to get a Bobcat on 3 years 0% finance, but he was told that the Bobcats lacked power. I was surprised to hear this.
Not sure which exact model, but what’s the received wisdom on Bobcats?
