I've noticed that this mini shovel is very popular and used in various fields and is very versatile. What do you think of its reputation? Would you buy it? What are its strengths and weaknesses? Why is it so popular?

Because "Bobcat 573" is not a standard, official Bobcat model designation (often confused with the S570 skid-steer), the best modern equivalents and direct upgrades depend on what features and specifications you are looking for. Bobcat of Atlanta +1For the exact Bobcat S570 equivalent with updated capabilities, modern upgrades, or alternative models:1. The Direct Upgrades: Bobcat S595 & S66If you are looking for the next level of power and lifting capacity without changing the overall footprint:Bobcat S595: This machine is a direct step up from the S570. It offers a 74 hp turbocharged engine and a 2,200 lbs Rated Operating Capacity (ROC) compared to the S570’s 68 hp and 2,000 lbs ROC. It is ideal if you need heavy lifting in tight spaces.
Bobcat S66: For even more capability and modern tech, the R-Series S66 pushes ROC to 2,450 lbs, includes standard 2-speed travel, and features significantly upgraded vertical lift and in-cab digital displays.2. Traditional/Mechanical Alternatives (No Computers)If you specifically need a simpler version that is easier to maintain without dealing with complex engine computers or emission-heavy Tier 4 electronics:Bobcat 753 or 763: These classic models are highly sought after by owner-operators for their mechanical simplicity and legendary reliability.Bobcat S185: A long-time favorite M-series machine known as a workhorse that bridges the gap between older mechanics and modern comfort.

he Bobcat 573 is actually a misnomer or part of a serial number for standard skid-steer and agricultural manuals. Bobcat’s compact equipment does not feature a "573" loader; this designation is frequently confused with the highly popular Bobcat S570 skid-steer loader or refers to parts catalogs covering a wide range of models

The Bobcat S570 is a mid-sized, vertical-lift-path skid-steer. Introduced to succeed earlier models, it offers a rated operating capacity of 1,950 lbs. This makes it a staple in landscaping and construction for tasks like clearing high-sided truck boxes. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
The overarching history of the Bobcat skid-steer dates back to 1956: [1]
1956: Minnesota turkey farmer Eddie Velo asks machinists Cyril and Louis Keller to build a small, maneuverable machine to clean his two-story barns. [1, 2, 3]
1958: The Keller brothers showcase their three-wheeled loader at the Minnesota State Fair. The Melroe Manufacturing Company (later Bobcat Company) buys the exclusive manufacturing rights. [1, 2]
1962: The iconic "Bobcat" brand is officially adopted, known for being tough, quick, and agile. The famous M-440 loader is introduced, paving the way for the four-wheel skid-steer.

1990s: The introduction of vertical lift-path machines (like the precursors to the S570) revolutionizes the loader lineup, dramatically improving lift capacity and height

That’s a 753 in the picture and it was a standard model. We had one at British Sugar in the 1980’s.
