Bedding slabs on sand?

Any advise? Is it just like block pavers? Put your edging round , use 100mm type one and 25mm sharp sand for bedding then kiln dried sand in the joints?
It's for foot traffic only.

We put slightly thicker sand about 40mm. And sand cement dry mix for the edges.

some tw*t in a lorry is bound to drive over that :cry:

That square that is missing is a tree pit. Under all those slabs and the whole pavement is a system of crates a bit like soakaway crates with considerably bigger voids for the root system to fill. The tree that went in the pit was quite large and should spread quite quickly. Then along the road side has cement added so should be ok.
Standard practice for council slabs to be laid on sharp sand for pedestrian areas, nice and easy to lift and relay.
