BE licence changes delayed

FYI

The planned changes to the BE licence for the 15th Nov 2021 have been delayed.

The delay is due to the Gov failing to get the House of Lords to vote at all due to no factual data or safety impact assessment & the vote in the Commons was not conclusive again due to no safety impact assessment & that the law was being changed under a temporary path yet was looking like a perm change, when in the opinion of the house a short term suspension of BE was more appropriate to achieve the same goal.

This means that until it has changed you must still stick to the cat B towing limits if you do not have a BE licence already.

The house of Lords refused to vot on it as the Gov / DVSA presented no hard data on the safety impact of the changes.

The house of Commons had a debate & vote. The debate was not going well for the Gov / DVSA again due to no safety impact assessment & the fact they they have totally ignored their own trailer safety report from 2018. They were also accused of using the short term need for more LGV tests to by the back door get rid of the BE test when a 6 month freeze on tests would have the same effect for less road safety risk.

The vote was not decisive so it was scheduled for a new debate & vote on the 17th Nov 2021.

Feel sorry for the trainer's that have had to jack in doing trailer test courses if that's all they did as an job or are sitting in limbo for this shite show to sort it's self out
I'll be honest I'm surprised they are not still needed and they may yet be. If they do go ahead with no test what's the bets on compulsory training instead especially as this seems to have been the issue in the house of Lords

Trailers aren't the problem....it's the idiots in cars on their own ...done 1000 miles last week man it's time we insisted on retests after 10 years or something...wtf I've seen it all.
Culminated in following a hire Luton through the 50mph bit at Wigan...he had either a death wish or magnetic attraction to the Armco...htf he didn't flip it I'll never know...3 times.🤷🤷🤦‍♂️ After the first I hung well back..then he twatted it again with his rear bar..either popped up or on his phone..come the end he took off like a bat out of hell at 90 odd in outside lane 🤷

When this was announced I went from fully booked forever to 5 days work.
I now have no trailer C1 or D1 work booked in at all.
Gone back on the cars to keep food on the table.
People in general wont take training unless they have too.
