Automated Drawings

Hello All,

I've been messing around with things to make fabrication easier and wanted to understand fabricators/workshop managers opinions on it.

Would an automated email service for assembly/single part drawings for one of beams with end plates be useful?

I'm thinking maybe an app or website where you put the beam profile/length/end plate thickness and hole centres and it emails you an assembly drawing and single part drawings within a couple minutes.

Would that be useful?

In a word,no.the only reason that most people would use a service like this is for the engineers sign off. Which an app wouldn't be able to provide. And god knows how much your indemnity insurance would cost to provide structural drawings with no background information.

It would not have any involvement with calcs it would purely be a service for producing a drawing from tekla with minimal input or expertise in tekla from a spreadsheet from the data you supply.

Thankyou for your response though.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
fabrication drawings need to have an SE sign off on them to be worth a bean - as said liability would be massive, which is one of the reasons why SEs charge so much - indemnity covers stops in their lap
