good question (y)
got passed by a Model X yesterday on the way to Cardiff ... much bigger vehicle than the ??????? , whatever it's called .. looked at one in Cribbs's showroom, the other week and was surprised how small it was
The X wasn't a bad looking bus ...... but!!

wonder what the feasibility is of taking something like a P38 or the like and replacing the engine, etc, with a leccy set up?? ... could be market for retro set ups perhaps ??

This is how the Ferrarien got the Tesla engine At ECC in Wales, any old car can get Tesla technology under the shell

many would argue that a Ferrari without proper engine noise is not much to Ferrari.

interesting Frank
looking at that solar array there .. was at a place yesterday afternoon, on me way back from Cardiff, that has IIRC about 40 acres of panels laid out and pushing juice into the grid. was a fair fuss about it, when in planning, as all very productive fields
quite a few of 'em around these parts

scroll up and left from Morspan

rest is all corn about 8ft high presently

went to look at a lathe at MEC ... but they'd all gone home for the day :(

I've not driven a F-Pace myself, but one of my colleagues has (won the hire car lottery that day) and he said it was very good.

Personally I'd rather have a Discovery Sport :)

The Air suspension on the D3 is very reliable, and the version in the Defender will be miles on from that fitted to the P38 (which I'm sure you're aware, has had it's fair share of problems!).

TBF to the old P38's EAS, a lot of issues are driver related :cautious: .... mostly moving off before it has its head together, after a few hours parked, which the 'astute' driver soon realises .;):giggle:
you're ok as long as you don't go over 25mph 'til it's ready  ... better still, just give it a minute.
if it didn't piss about trying to self level, when it was stationary, this issue wouldn't even occur ... TBH it's bloody annoying!! A feature that could well do with being over-ridden in the BECM/EAS module, if it were possible :whistle:

Yep, the BECM is what I'd consider a first generation unit, the TD5 disco got a second gen unit that was much better (which split the EAS off to a seperate ECU IIRC) and what we see on the L322 Rangie, the L320 sport and L319 Disco 3 are 3rd Generation - so miles better.

I’ll happily stick to my old ex military 90 defender wolf. Seen a X the other day and they do look smart but at 80k+ just can't see electric vehicles that are large enough with decent range ever being at an affordable price point

I'd imagine it's not cheap to convert and would probably be more of a labour of love, there's a few websites for conversions and a few build threads like this one https://www.zeva.com.au/Projects/RX7/

Pam's always fancied a Rangey sport .. the original one ;) .... didn't dislike the looks, but found them a bit cramped for elbow room .... having driven the L322 and sport, with the TDV8 in 'em, they're quite a bus (y):giggle: .... but the leccys are horrendous and the 322, pre '05 had Dana front diffs, which used to let go around 60k, so never bothered to ever go searching
.....these days I have no idea WTF is what in the landy/rangey/disco range :unsure: .... none of 'em look the same from one week to the next .... need a catalog of spec.s to actually know WTF you are looking at :mad:

Most now have LR's ingenium engines, which are supposed to be quite good.

Read the river simple website I posted earlier there is a lot of information on there about the best strategies for more efficient vehicles in all different forms and not just the propulsion but the lifespan of the vehicles and weight saving
If Tesla's where really so green they would try and cut weight and material usage but they are just another top end car full of gadgets that are not environmentally friendly atall
