Access Slew Pinion on JCB 8018

Daft question but how do I access this to clean and grease.

I bought the workshop guide, according to the guide a quick look under the front of the machine there should be an access panel. Would this small access panel be under the large steel cover, so remove steel plate first as I cant see much else under there

Cheers, first picture is what i expected to see, second picture is what i actually see. Dont mind pulling plates off it needed, just in case someone done this before

The pic in from the handbook has led you astray…
The plate you are looking for is under the very middle of the undercarriage, between the tracks.

Get the machine up on some sturdy blocks of wood to give you more room under the machine.
Avoid gaining room by lifting the machine up on its boom or blade and simply diving under it, you are one failed hose away from being squashed then! So get it off the ground and block it safely.

Not even a failed hose just creep on rams is enough and it's on you before you realise

the same pic led me astray as well. So I haven't done the job yet. I did spend some figuring out what grease to use since the nearist JCB dealer is 2hr drive to a 2hr ferry ride and another hour or so drive on the other side, so JCB pinion grease is out. That grease is a benitonite/clay grease and is not compatible with most common greases. Calcium sulfonate is one possible replacement like Royal 865HD. I also found a fancy synthetic I'm going to use as a replacement since it doesn't look like fun job at all. Huskey LVI-50 is syn base oil, syn thickener, waterproof, no drip point, food safe, even Kosher. It even feels nice. I am going to try it on my jackall (farm jack, I think propperly called a walking pin jack) Its either sticky from not being greased (which is damgerous) or messy as hell.
