6ton dumper - ROPS+ & hydrostatic

Anyone been on a new 6 ton dumper with the ROPS+ setup? Thwaites have the pull over bar, which I think could get annoying!!
Mecalac have a gate type setup - not sure what that’s going to help if I’m being honest?

They also all appear to be hydrostatic now, which I’m all for, big fan of our 3ton hydrostatic. I would like to assume the 6ton is just as good given they haven’t strangled the new ones on power!

I’ve been looking for a really tidy pre 2018/19 but it’s impossible to find so I think I’ll go new - just as always keen to hear anyone’s experiences!

Looks reminiscent of the old skid steer set ups, I reckon that would do your head in on a dumper though,up down,up down, disc cutter and two scaffold caps would sort it😉
Have you considered a full cab ?I did briefly but it doubled the price on a comparable second hand machine.

Have thought about it, they do come up quite often these days as tidy second hand machines, mostly due to the fact they have one driver on them all the time etc.
I’m all for extra safety, I see the added value in the padded side parts but the red drop bar looks a pain!! Can just see lads leaving it down and jumping over it tbf!

I drove one of these briefly at natta's training site and thought it was quite good. Essentially just doors on it so no problems and the gas struts was strong enough that most people would just drive without closing it. I also thought having a canopy was quite good. Not as precious as a cab but better than nothing.

Neat idea… but it’s going to rattle something horrible!

Not sure why anyone would buy a new site dumper for the work most of us do..... They haven't improved since the 90's and Benford/Thwaites are just built out of random parts from eBay.
Nor me 😂 deffo won’t be a Thwaites given the price they have spat at me!

My man maths logic is sound anyway, I’ve 3 years of guaranteed work for it, even if I hired one in for 2/3 of that time the hire costs alone will just about pay for a new one.. add in convenience bonus of having one all the time, 25% less on looming tax bill. Then the fact the last new dumper I got in 2018 is still worth just about as much as I paid for it all starts to make sense!
I’ll be the first to buy a tidy used one that hasn’t been used as a battering ram, been dug out of with a 20tonner toothed bucket, then used as a concrete bucket!
