1997 Sitemaster plus 3cx squeeling extra dig when operating

Hi Guys,I've got a 1997 sitemaster plus 3cx extra dig that squeals when operating the extending section on the backhoe in and out as i cannot see anything binding or contacting the arm visibly from the top,i lubricated the slide with chain oil which i know you shouldn't do but it was to establish if it was a minor issue .Wouldn't think it was the top wearpads causing it and i am not sure of the way the 4 bolts with the washers that you remove each side of the dipper work to remove play but welcome your advice experiences curing the same issue .thankyou in advance everybody

the bronze type wear pads would squeal when it was dry the bottom pads adjust like you say by removing washer sometimes a washer is to much and the extender binds a bit there may be something between extender and dipper a stone or bit of wood but dont think that would squeal.

On 3cx extending dippers they used to recommend using waxoil on the slides I am pretty sure that aplies to a Project 12 too.

I don't know when they went to plastic slides, but some recommend if they are plastic not to waxoyl as it actually makes them sticky. How many washers are left in the slack adjustment bolts in the sides of the dipper? Could be worn out?

Waxoyl on the plastic shims, the shims take some getting correct, I found they used to squeak more when too tight..
Tip - leave the waxoyl out in a open tub for a month or so to dry out, It brushes on a lot easier and doesn’t just slide off when applied!

I found it best to do waxoil at the end of the day and leave extender out it stayed on longer I found . Doing waxoil then using machine straight away most just got wiped off.

1997 sitemaster plus 3cx extra dig that squeals

When I took delivery of my '97 P8, four (of 8) bushes were missing, so it was sliding on the adjuster bolts. Each bolt had it's four washers, so it had never been adjusted since those bushes were installed. Not surprisingly, the bolts were worn to match the slide and all need to be replaced.
All of that - but it didn't squeak!

As for lube - yes, the manual lists Waxoyl (unavailable south of the equator)

Everyone seems to have an opinion as to what is in Waxoyl, but a warning in the service manual is interesting (and probably out of date)

There has been a few project 12 operators manuals on eBay in the last week. Thanks - it's actually the P12 service manual I'm after. My 3CX is a P8, but at some stage in it's life, its received the later P12 gearbox

Thankyou to all of yourselves that replied to my post relating to the extending dipper problem on my JCB 3CX Plus project 12 .....V8 Druid,charlie2,top kit and Gecko ,i have done as you suggested and now its quiet as a mouse thank god it was bloody excruciating the noise !!!!

i have now a different issue relating to the low ratio feature it does not work ie it doesn't change down in forward speed in any of the 4 power shift speeds on the steering column stalk The light on the switch illuminates when operated but no difference happens to speed etc i have also tried it in the 4 wheel braked and 4 wheel drive with 4 wheel braking positions on the dash board ,any ideas or anybody had previous similar problem and how to solve would be much appreciated .Thankyou in advance again to everybody that has been kind enough to assist before .Dave

not familiar with these ... presume it has the rotary selector, on the end of the stalk, with the fwd/rev selected by the stalk's own movements fwd/bwd ... does it change in reverse?
