150m2 with a micro?

Might be looking at a job where they want 150m2 dug 200mm , looks like soft soil/turf. Would you hire something bigger if you only had a micro?

4 grab wagons so 4 days with a micro and tracked dumper depending on distances.
I dig out similar amounts with my micro - mostly due to not being able to fit anything larger in, but mostly due to hire cost of 2.5t and 1t dumper making it expensive plus you can't guarantee getting two grabs in a day to work to full loads. If your doing skips you'll need two 8's a day but again getting exchanges is a right twat when you want them

There would be a few more variables to consider like accsess and what your doing with spoil ect. And also whether its day rate or price work.

We have done similar with the micros.

Ok thanks. Access is good, customer said shift it to somewhere else in garden but I'm not sure if they realise it's going to be a mountain of soil. I'll price for the micro and my little dumper because I'm in no hurry and hiring bigger plant will take away any savings in time I suspect.

Sounds like the sort of job where you should be on day rate. Customer is guaranteed to start changing their mind when they realise how much spoil there is.

What you could do is hire a second track barrow (peanuts) and get the customer to run the barrows whist you drive the digger. Then they feel like theyre saving money, and you get easy days.

I'm mostly on my own but the odd time I have another guy on the tracked dumper, speeds things up alot. Two dumpers with one guy I would imagine would speed things up considerably as long as it's not a tight site.

@Russell unless they have a giant field they won't lose anywhere near as much material as they are hoping. Get this quite a lot and no matter how many times you tell them, they think they know better till your not even 1/4 way through and the area they thought would contain it, is now a mountain

Bit like when your working with the tree shear ..... we took leylandii out that surrounded a blokes paddock with the 8T and tree shear and he insisted that we put it all in the middle for him to deal with its still there 2 years later poor fecker.
