Tb016 hydraulic oil filler nut cap

Tried topping the oil up today but nut is totally solid.
Sure its a lefty Lucy thread?
Its a brass nut I will try a bigger spanner on it tomorrow but would a little heat hurt it, obviously it is a tank containing oil so not a preffered option

Scaffolding bar on a 3/4" drive. They are tight as f**k! I use an impact gun to rattle them off now on the 216 but not sure the 016 has enough space to use one

Yeah won't get a gun in there as its under the arm. Bar it is then!

Worth trying it when it’s been ran all day? I know some hydraulic tanks get mega hot so could help abit?

How did you go with opening the tank?
I would wait till its all cold, and heat the nut carefully with MAP gas or LPG very carefully. Don't need to heat very hot, brass expand more than steel.
Then use a ring spanner the correct size so not to damage the cup, and slide a 1 m pipe on the spanner and apply force gradually. Make sure the tank does not move.

.... and the brass plug will expand in the port making it even tighter in there .... bit of cryo spray on the plug'd be a better option with a cold tank

Tried with a heavy duty spanner and a bar and it wouldn't budge. Will need to check size of the plug and like you said use a proper spanner. I was scared I'd snap the neck of the tank!

Sorry, I forgot it is a plug and not a cap. The idea is the same. heat up the neck ot the tank and use a ring spanner with an extension.
A 3/4" rattle gun will probably make short work of that.

I think the cap is 46mm if that helps. Use a six sided socket if it is that tight as it is less likely to slip.

I'll have a look might have a ring spanner otherwise will need to buy 1

All ours are 41mm 6 sided socket, 3/4 bar and 1m bit of tube,

Yes definitely will lol you can guarantee my luck it would be a different size

So it was 41mm, had a fitter out yesterday for a 70 plate Thwaite 3t swivel 200hrs on clock steering failed. It took a socket and 5ft bar inside a tube to loosen the nut!
