Lovely bloke worked for me for 9months, was getting on well never moaned just cracked on. Had a few things going on at home with his kids and missus so decided it was easier to go back on the farm as you can start at 4am milking cows and finish when there done. I don't begrudge anyone for leaving just can put you in an awkward situation when your a small business especially you've just invested in a brand new van for him along with a new machine for my self.
But the door is always open should he wish to come back. Felt like a relationship break up when i was driving him home on his last day

been there so many times Boyo ..... sad to lose a good bloke, especially if it's no fault of your own .........aside from the time and money invested, they're so bloody hard to replace and 99% of my guys were like 'family' ..... plus as said ... leaves you in the tish ... with a small workforce, one man leaving is a big percentage chunk of the workforce available to carry on with whatever you have lined up .... it's a hard one to deal with

Funny that I had the same feeling when a lad who started with me left he was my first employee and I did my best for him. Was weird when he decided to go back on the tools it did feel like a breakup haha it’s difficult when your a small business

had a lad leave me, who I'd had from school and trained ... he arrived with a horrendous stammer and left without it .... many years later .... a great lad with way more patience and skill than he should have had for his years .....
decided he wanted a change of scenery and moved back to Brummy area, where he was from originally .... would have been easier to take, if he'd gone to a better job, but went off driving fork lifts in a big dis. centre.
we keep in touch, as he was a friend, as well as an employee .. worked his way up through that company and he's just, this year, gained his Bsc in Mech. Eng..
Had a lovely message from him on FB, just after, thanking me for all the time and patience I invested in him.
Makes it all worthwhile

Most of my work with my mini is domestic. Either for small builders, Groundworkers or even DIYers.

totally agree Danny ..... helped a mate dig out and build one years ago .... with an eye to it becoming a granny annex at a later date .... more of a hangar than a garage - 45' x 25' cavity walled, insulated .. all the bells & whistles .... his MIL lived in Denmark and his own mum is long gone, so'll never happen ..... 's hell of a garage/workshop now though

did you have to alter the founds under that section you've gone up on ????

Under size of building regs at 20m2. Boundary is actually 100mm past that side wall. Permitted development planning wise.
Existing wall had great foundation machine driver must of only had a 2ft bucket! Quite deep too. I matched depth on new stuff but 450 wide. Came out trench with 9" block on flat

surely you're going to be over the 2.5m height limit, within 2m of the boundary, with that though? .... very lucky with the founds, eh

Planning on this sort of thing's a bloody minefield and so difficult to interpret on some aspects ..... you weren't tempted to go for the full 30 Sq m?

The back patio abutting the rear wall is around 200mm above my ffl. Height is measured from here on sloping ground. Gives me a ceiling height of around 2200 but still under 2.5 overall. Technically the parapet takes it over but I'd be prepared to argue the toss. Looks loads better as it matches wall. Couldn't stretch the length much more as be In front of principal elevation.
Still not a cheap exercise for all the "cost saving" I've done.

you have it sussed .... I'd argue the parapet too mate ..... don't think any form of build work is ever cheap ..... unless the materials can be blagged ..... looks good anyway

They are 300 x 100 x 440mm 7.3N trench block, a lot of people use them down this way

Yeh we see a lot of 300x440x215 airated but those look bit easier to handle. Last lot I had were 350x440x215 for 6" cav. beasts!

180meter driveway over haul for 10 holiday cottages in East Taphouse Cornwall. Nice to be able to finally be able to do this job i priced it back in July.
