Brake master cylinder

I seem to be on here every night 😆 not the best at stuff like this so bare with me ! It’s 1994 ish 4 tonne dumper. No resistance in the break pedal whatsoever. I’ve had the master cylinder off and apart and it seems one of the outlets isn’t letting much fluid through ( might be blocked ) it’s not leaking from anywhere and the seals look good. I’ve managed to bleed the fluid up to the front axel but the pedal is still soft. I decided to cap off the rear brake outlet from the cylinder temporarily so I could concentrate on the front hoping that this would solve the problem but unfortunately this hasn’t worked. I’m kinda hoping it’s the cylinder that is the culprit and not the brakes in the shafts. Any advice would be appreciated 👍👍👍

Will that be a suitable replacement? I haven’t a problem with slight alterations to make it fit ! Many thanks 👍

That looks like it will save me a whole heap of time. Will this cylinder do the job ?

It’s got me thinking 🤔 I haven’t noticed a servo !!! I’ll check tomorrow but can’t recall seeing one. I’m sure the brake lines run directly from the master c to the front and rear axels.

unknown ..... would need to have a measure up on bore/stroke/fixing ctrs and thread sizes ..... a lot of these things use std components from other things

Always makes me wonder how you can buy a whole master cylinder cheaper than a genuine seal kit how long they gonna last?

I remember buying chinese carb for my trials bike ! It cost £30. It worked out more just to replace the jets on the original

I’m still up for using an aftermarket cylinder. I’m sure it’ll do the trick 👍

It’s what I do!
Is the cylinder leaking externally then? Can you get a pic of the brake pedal and rod?

What do dumpers like this use for brake fluid?
Is it automotive 'brake fluid' or a light hydraulic oil?
(I thought wet brakes tend to use oil)

Diesels don't generate manifold vacuum, so you'd need a vacuum pump (not impossible, but you'd want to be convinced)

That doesn’t look like the original master cylinder?
Where have you been told that Dot 4 is correct? Not saying that it’s definitely not, but you need to check that Dot 4 is suitable for the axles.

I have an old manual for one in the lock up I think, dot 4 was later, I think the originals ran Sae 30! The prongs in the axles didn’t like dot4😒

All I have for reference is the serial number.
It also says compair Holman

I did find this information which doesn’t help much . The plate says it’s compair Holman 4 tonne which leads me to believe it’s an RJE 4000. It states it’s a D40 and the only d40 is made by another company and also much later.
