Wasn't looking forward to ordering another pallet of cement- my last two kept me going over the shortage. Was quoted £3.99 per bag (pallet qty) for Mastercrete in a plastic wrapper. Given all that's gone on I didn't think that too bad, what are others paying? Any signs of prices returning to normal (or at least a level) on other items?

There might be odd things drop but i reckon most stuff will stay up. Cement going up a fair chunk at end of year i believe. I've just ordered 60 packs of blocks for retaining wall for my shed next spring. I've room to store them and it saves a 17.5% price rise on 1st Jan.

Reinforcing mesh up by 120% over my last decent sized order, which admittedly was in the spring. Things are getting out of control now and it’s going to end in tears......

A lot of basics like cement rebar mesh etc are being driven up by demand from hs2. That's gonna last a while and when domestic work possibly takes a downturn hs2 will mask the effect. Demand might drop but prices not so much imho.

Talk is timber may drop 10-15% at some point ...when you consider what it's gone up that's a joke and doubt it will.
Stuff is still going up like a train...loads of price increases kicking in 1st of Jan it's not going to end well for some folk...

" work on 1200 quid a tonne Gra " was the sobering reply ..... the last two years have been their best ever ????? they can't understand it, but ain't knocking it
looks like my list is gonna be well over a couple o' grand :(o_O .... an' it ain't THAT big a list  ..
couple of heavy PFC's for Josh for a loft conversion, 60ft of 6" x 3" RSC for a job for me and a few lengths of 102 x 51 RSC too .....
add to that a significant list of odds an' sods of hollows, flats, rounds, squares and angles, plus some gates and a work bench to knock out for the BIL and 's gonna cost :censored:

Timber is back down to pre covid prices (on the trade markets anyway!)
Be interesting to see if them prices ever reach us again!

don’t know what everyone is paying for 4” 6m lengths of underground drainage but I’m getting quotes for 20/21£ a length! Was £12 not long ago!!

Apparently polypipe only make plain ended pipe now, but they are having to start making socketed lengths again to satisfy backorders of 30,000 lengths of socketed pipe.

Have you guys used plastics-express? I’ve had a few orders off them over the last couple of years and the stuff has been good value. The bank payments look strange (plasticsexpress reads funny if you don’t know what it is!) and there were a couple of bits missing from the odd order but they turned up when chased. Only selling 3m lengths of 110mm but the prices aren’t too bad.
