Bearing removal.

From a flail mower. Standard roller bearing in a housing, the inner side has a turned lip to guard against wire ingress. Outside looks like a taper lock of some sort around the bearing, but I can’t see any indication of there actually being two parts (it looks all turned) so I’m wondering if you press just the bearing out? Good excuse to order that 50t press I’ve been after. First pic is outside.

It has to come out the outside way- the plastic seal barely fits through the inside turned lip/guard. Due to that lip, the only surface available to press on is the inner race.

Do you not press one side of the outside back in so the bearing rotates in the housing and then comes out through the cut-outs?

What's your brakes like as it's probably cheeper to get new drums complete with bearings if drums are worn

I googled and every forum with threads on ‘what tonnage press’ was full of replies saying ‘they’d buy bigger next time’ and 20t ‘is ok for a hobby shop’.

You can be always stop at a pressure, you can’t make a little ram bigger !

We operate an old 50t Churchill press, put new leather seal in it a good few years back and has done us well. Although countless times we've run out of steam with it and could do with a bigger one

I changed the bearing's on a ifor with the stud and cup bearing press set but they are a bit rubbish. 50 ton press would also be useful as a mini press brake for folding bits and pieces.
There was a 100 ton one at the scrappy a while back, I always wanted it but had nowhere to put it.

Agree, you can't beat having plenty in reserve, but as I said, it's real easy to destroy stuff with 50t, just need good control and care .. when it goes, it'll go .... with a bang ..... and either give or burst
