Their pricing is all over the place, some of the list prices are just crazy. Ive said before though, many times, that I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the value of some components over the years. But it’s imperative that you ask a price first before you order.
I don’t blindly order anything and everything from JCB, but they are sometimes the only option, and sometimes, just sometimes they are the cheapest!
This valve for instance, while it still seemed a lot of money, about £400 iirc? it was considerably cheaper from JCB than it was directly from the actual manufacturer!

This piece of plastic. Roof window. Has a ridiculous list price, it took some effort but I eventually got more of a reasonable price on it, but still a lot of money. This is another part supplied to JCB by the original manufacturer, TIM, who built the cabs for the JS machines of that era.

both of these parts are supplied buy another company to JCB, the supplying company might be the ones making the most money for all we know?

But agree, the filter you’ve priced @Regy53 , is a total pi$$ take.

I agree with JCB pricing I bought a female flat face QR coupling for the front QH on 3cx compact I think it was £67 plus vat !!!! for one , the male ones where I think £80.00 each that seem simpler but more costly ?
But got them online for around £34 which is what I would assume they would have cost .

The red safety lock bar for the manual rear QH £96.00 !!!

I cant imagine its just JCB though I know some car parts are just crazy a mate was telling me about a headlight for Renault £1500.00 and even some simple stuff like spark plugs from Halfords £17.00 each I had a £10.00 voucher for them but even with that got 4 online delivered and saved £36.00 sent to my door for the same plugs.

I appreciate in Halfords case they have a local store and if it cost say £10.00 to 15 more I would maybe have bought them there same day just for ease but they didnt have them in stock locally and the price was click and collect from the store

One thing to remember about parts prices is that a dealer will probably work on 100% mark up. So Jcb supply dealer £50 part and dealer charges £100. Its how the dealer pays for the building vans stock etc and where the manufacturer makes money. There isn't a much profit from the sale of machine as many think but the backup and parts make up for it. In the case of jcb what is often a cheaper machine will probably more than make up for it with parts supplied.

parts is a huge business. When I ran southern plant Terex / case dealership the parts turnover was very significant and it paid for with self with very handy margins. However you need to invest in stock and also order right as a vor order was a good 15% penalty
