Evening all

I'm in need of some remote cctv of some description.

I've a piece of land around 2-300mtrs away from my house, on which my kits parked.

Been tonite and someone, probably kids have been over messing about.

Looking for some options for remote cctv.

Seen a couple on line but they require WiFi connection.

Anyone got any recommendations?

You can get wildlife cameras but you can’t watch them live - I’ll be watching this post with interest.
The reason I asked about power is because we have outbuildings (with power but no WiFi) covered by CCTV that links to the house cameras/WiFi/ability to see it live from your phone from anywhere etc. There is a small box on both buildings in line of sight of each other that fire the signal/data across (that’s all I know, my cctv guy installed it!).

I'm in a similar situation with the part of my yard where i store aggregate and people occasionally helping themselves. Never bothered about it enough to do anything about it yet but did consider wildlife cameras. Only thing is if they just knock them down and take them away and that's you're evidence gone.

line of sight is usually microwave MB (or sometimes IR in close quarters proximity )

trouble with cameras is you can't watch 'em all the time ... silent alarm break beams are more efficient ... they don't know they've triggered them until you turn up to kick seven shades out of 'em ... and cameras're only ever of use if you can identify the bar stewards

On edit ... the beams are usually parallel pairs which're virtually animal proof ... but bigger things, like two legged rats trigger them simultaneously .. careful positioning is the key ..... mine in my yard caught a lot of tw*ts over the years @Richard Hunton

these are what I had (or very similar) ... but not this breed https://champions.en.alibaba.com/pr...tr_in_perimeter_protecting_alarm_systems.html
will have a look for you tomorrow, see what make they are .... they came home with me and're sat in me boxes ... set up right, they're bloody brilliant ... my alarm system in work was set up to cater for 'team ratter' .. my 5 cats in work ... they never set it off

That's the way I'd be going if it's close enough. Lot of line of site kit is good for up to 1km.
Power is big one yes there's battery but but stable power and UPS and then network access via line of site and world's your oyster .
I'd the fit a HIK system with decent dark fighter cameras. Set u back a few bob but it's the proper way and they can tell it is. Some of the cheap WiFi cameras...look just that. Imo.
Then u can get sensors etc like druid is chuntering on about👍😀 linked to your HIK cctv that alert you to movement etc.

then add some laser cannons at each corner and negate any further issues ..... or having to bother plod ...... just bury what's left ...DEEP !! :giggle::giggle:
I'm a big advocate of completely annihilating all thieving scum (y)

Agreed, fitted a couple of HIKVision systems on farms locally along with long range WIFI antennas. As others have pointed out break beams are a good solution as I've found the camera systems even adjusted can be too sensitive to use as triggers. So daylight changes (clouds passing over) and cats/rats/rabbits can be enough to trigger alerts.

The IP technology and the cameras are quickly improving and becoming far more cost effective than they ever used to be. The UPS is a good strategy and insurance for data loss due to blackouts. I've not found a solution that caters for no power as the NVR (Recorder) and the attached hardware is a bit power hungry for a small photovoltaic array/ single panel...

Remote operated mini guns on each corner....then there won't be much left to bother anyone....

All makes sense...I looked into it for a remote site and apart from the rental units on a trailer...it's a big battery pack that needs charging solar etc etc...all silly money..mains is the way to go ...or very quiet little Genny if temporary.
