New aftermarket spring QH I was quoted in the region of 6-700 today, seen a hydro 3cx hitch on ebay for £1200 and I think I could keep using the one I've got, cut the front out, make a new one and weld it in in an evenings work (minus the machining) At the cost of maybe £20 of steel allowing for bar and reinforcements. Or I could just get a sanding drum and widen it out a bit, maybe a bit of weld around the outside, make up for the fact the walls have got a bit thinner and call it a goodun there. If thats somewhat sensible

Not say they are not, there’s no right or wrong way, but I’ve got a lot of 3cx pattern buckets, none on split bushes.
And if you are buying new, like the digbits man wanted you to, then you’d have it made with whatever you wanted, so it’s kinda irrelevant if buying new?

Not necessarily, I’ve only got welded pins in things that I’ve specifically asked for welded or made myself, many buckets have loose pins and quite a few even with grease nipples in them! But no split bushes.

I like the sound of that, I'll certaintly keep it in mind, I do like hydraulic QH when I get to use it on a rental machine.

Aye all ours have grease nipples in, been welding on bits of old water pipe to protect them becuase they keep getting smashed off

You’d not need to worry if you had a hydraulic hitch, pin rotation in the bucket will be virtually zero, only see them turn when hitching up, they should never turn in operation.

Nowt quick about having to get on and off to change buckets. Hydraulic for me

Saves wrestling with the pin and the bar and dropping buckets near your feet lol
I got to say will probably try fettle around see if I can't bodge something up first as nice as a new QH sounds the current sutuation isn't ideal. We'll see.

Just get that front jaw opened up then, looking at the side on pics you'd get most of it with 9" grinder

I wouldn't weld it just try and take as much as you dare off the top rather than the jaw I'd say you would probably get most of it with a 9"grinder or a sthil saw.
Your invested in on the bar now you might as well butcher that hitch and when it gives up buy a new mismatch hitch just throw the old pins and bushes in a bucket so you know where they are for later

Trust me I thought about it If it'd broke back when I was welding I'd have been on the case Probably broke when I was about 8 though wasn't quite weilding the stick yet It is fair ol broke though, I'll take a photo if i remember.
