All I know is when I was buying my 5 t I tried as much as I could,
kx57 - nice, but low roof and generally small cab- needed update.

Hyundai 6 ton thing - utter poop!

Volvo 5.7 ton - very well built and plush, on the expensive side, the controls were so smooth you didn’t know you were even operating it which was no good for me! Plus I felt very perched in the cab, dealer hung up on me when I said I was going to try a jcb, I ring him back and ignored me - prick!

Takeuchi dealer wasn’t interested in even letting me try on just pushed hard for a ‘deal’ , wasn’t about me it was just sell sell sell! Put me right off!

JCB didn’t have any 57c on demo or with customers as they hadn’t formally released them yet, said to me pop down to the factory and they plucked one off the line for me to try and it was spot on in all honesty, as much as I moan about them the machine does what I ask and is comfy spacious at the same time, I just add fuel and filters once a year(warrenty sorted out afew niggles with no drama) 👍🏼

Fuel must be bad if it needs a filter every time tho 😂😂😂😂
Actually this year was the first time I had to put a extra fuel filter in between services! Last load of Fuel has been shocking!!

i ran a volvo ec55c with an engcon on s40 for a few years, very capable machine and very very stable
i’m now running a jcb 65r1 with 600 wide tracks and an engcon. not quite so stable as it’s reduced tail swing but still very capable

a very underrated size machine imo

Surname ? 🤔

I can’t remember his surname but he sells for Parkway Plant. I bought my Takeuchi off him and thought he was OK tbh, but I knew what I wanted and managed to arm-wrestle a great price out of him. He is very much a hard-sell kind of guy though, and I can see how he’d be a pain in the arse if you were early-on in the decision-making process.

full engcon grading bucket over tracks, tippy ?

How you find it in general ? I like the compact size and it has decent dump height. What sort of ££ are they 2 years old ish ?

The only thing that tips it over the tracks is a full bucket of concrete, but bearing in mind that’s a 4ft bucket I’m not complaining!!

Generally it’s a all round good machine, it’s best points are it’s lifting abilities not necessarily the weight but how precise it is under load! I’d say the boom needs speeding up but I’m used to a 3cx boom which are rapid!

Dump height is good, can load a 8w no problem, be tad easier without Engcon+top hitch, but that’s the same on all tilty setup machines.. just spin the bucket if it’s too tight.

One thing I like is the front overhang is about the same as the rear, a lot of reduced tail swing have a horrible oversize front-swing, which they never tell you about! All my sites end up being bloody tight and this helps out no end!

As for used value I’m not sure, maybe Ross can say? I saw a 2yr old(about a year ago) with a special fencing dipper + original dipper for 35k about 700 hours if i remember right.

When corona is gone your welcome to have a go 👍🏼
