Husky chainsaws, which one.

I thought I would start a new thread, rather than adding on to my Stihl questions.
Been looking at husky chainsaws with a view of crossing over the dark side.
Seeing as I’ve been used to a Stihl 170 which model should I be looking at to upgrade as such, power and chain length?

Husky 135 mk 2 has more power than the ms181 and is at least a onner less.

I have the mk1 and it's a brilliant little saw, much better anti vibes and norticeably more powerful than my 181. Not sure the mk2 are supposed to be as good unfortunately but still got to be better than an ms170

if you flip a Husqvarna saw over & it says anything other than made in Sweden on the manufacturers plate put it back on the shelf. This will apply to most of the smaller models. Same applies for any Stihl not made in Germany.
The only model above that I have personal experience with is the 435 which is not a bad saw but breaks brake bands frequently enough that I carry a spare .

Now its not a very useful post (as usual) esp cos I dont know the models without looking but I have 4 x sthil from smallish to bigish bought as a job lot and had a husky before those and preferred the husky

You won’t have been comparing like with like.

Both brands do ‘farmer’ models and much lighter ‘pro’ models.

Husky pro models end in XP. Stihl pro models have an even second digit- for example, ms241 pro, ms251 farmer.

I’ve got a big pile of logs in our field that I’ve started to process for the log burner.
They were tress that I cut down when we bought the field a couple of years ago.
I just need something that is reliable and won’t keep playing up like the Stihl 170 I currently have.
I also have some very big oak trunks in a friend’s field that will need sorting at some point.
As for price, as little as possible for the right saw.

If you’re happy with the power of the 170 then husky 135mk2 brand new will be a step up in power and comfort and excellent value. Think it’s a 3 year homeowner warranty, or two at least.b

It’ll do oak trunks (cutting from both sides) but somewhat slowly. Otherwise you’re looking at a secondhand gamble or £600+ for a pro big saw.

my little collection of saws. 440 pretty nice, sometimes a sod to start after running. 181 lighter and good on fuel.461 is a big heavy beast.
Have used the 440 all day and worked it quite hard,no problems. Chain adjuster on husky is great although I prefer the 181 tho.
In the process of selling contents of shed,as not used tools in 3 years so prob not needed like the rest of bits.Not up to it anymore so Office life for me..

I see what you mean about country of origin, looked at a few boxed items and the smaller ones are made in china, the larger ones in Sweden.
I suppose this is only to be expected nowadays, but still handy to know.
