Had the remote system on this machine, where there are just 2 grease points which do the whole top half of the machine, with 2 manifolds which allow you to put a bit more in to a pacific pin if needed, but took it off, not a fan of them at all. Can see why fleets have them, but as Rory said, when they go wrong it’s to late. Don’t buy having it the same position etc etc,....know a lad who had a hydradig and “stuck to the book for greasing”....something like once every 500 hours!!!......pins and bushes shot to death!! My first machine had 10,000 hrs on with no noticeable wear on pins and the rest. You have to get out on a duck anyway to do the under carriage. All so by getting out, you get to give the machine a bit of a once over, checking for any rubbing pipes etc, lose brackets etc.
That was the same the same on the duck, but with one at the back of the cab for the main boom and one on the dipper. I actually took one apart to see how much grease actually goes through, and the vein it goes through was only about the thickness of a piece of string, not sure if I put the pictures up somewhere......not as posh as you with the electric grease gunI don't honestly get why the individual clustered nipples aren't adequate for everyone. Volvo Had it nailed as far as i'm concerned. Cluster of 5 for the main boom up opposite the cab, two on the bottom of main rams + Slew ring, then a cluster of 3 on the dipper and your bucket pins.
Electric Grease gun, takes about 2mins to hammer over a 20t excavator. Job done.

be interesting to know just how well they function in their sub zero conditions out there .....Interestingly, all of our kit (ncluding the EC-Oil blocks) are prepped for auto lube as standard (I think Rototilt are as well @CPS ?). It's a Scandi/European spec that doesn't seem to have made it over here yet.

... the tilty is a looooooong way from the pump and if pressure reg.s aren't set right elsewhere, at the closer points, I can't see a lot getting that far from the source, or the manifolds .... just gonna escape at points of least resistance

I think the manifolds on the greasing manifolds have a volume check valve type setup in them, and you can have different volumes at each pipe. As in it goes in sequence when the supply port gets grease each pipe gets a set volume of grease and then closes and the next pipe gets and so on. So even if one pipe is burst or no resistance it still greases each pipe in order., I can't see a lot getting that far from the source, or the manifolds .... just gonna escape at points of least resistance![]()
