unlikely to be a short, as unless you have the side lights illuminated, there will be no live supply going to the rear of the trailer ?? so probably either in the socket or the vehicle ... is it a 7 pin socket or the new 13 pin job which will have a permanent live in it ?

13 pin, the front marker lights are on but n assuming they are meant to be on
can't see as the front markers'd be on without side lights activated? is it a 7 or 13 pin plug on the trailer ? I'd have a look in the plug if 13 pin and same on both vehicles .... or you have a chafe somewhere shorting to a live ?
I had a gh1054 with an earth problem from new. When fitting the ramp they used bolts that were too long , the wire for the number plate light shares the same tube as the mounting for the ramp and when they tightened the bolts the wire got pinched.
My tipper is the same . The wiring is shocking . Mine has a charging module for the battery and before it was 2 years old I renewed it myself with a module that actually managed to keep water out . I had to wire a new 13 pin socket on it 2 days ago and some of the wires were black
. I will be rewriting the whole thing as soon as I have a shed to put it in .
Have they got holes in the lenses (even tiny ones) from stones etc? They are not very resilient sadly…
I think the wiring comes in pre assembled units, and sections are connected together, rather than someone making a loom from scratch.judging by the complaints you read about Ifor's wiring, it must be done by gibbons or chimps
Shouldn't have thought so- I've used the trailer about 8 times! I'll check though
