What tiltrotator for Kubota kx027-4 hi spec

My new Kubota kx027-4 is piped for quick hitch and 2 prop controlled aux circuits . If I decide to go down tiltrotator route I would want to minimise weight and build height so would likely go with a permanently mounted unit. What would my options be and at what approximate cost ?

Have a chat with Andrew at Engcon or talk to Jack and see what they have with DC2 and just direct mount.
I have an older Kx71-3 with a direct mount and never even thought about taking it off as I don’t do any hammer work.
If you go new, see if the S30 hydraulic hitch is coming soon. I think they have it on the S40 now but that unit might just be a tad heavy on a 3ton.
My guess on cost is it is going to be up at £14-15k for the unit now.
I watch this thread with interest as starting to thing about upgrading my 3ton at some point.

14-15k for a unit that doesn't need any control system and direct mount for a sub 3 tonner 😳 ? That would likely rule it out for me . 😢

I think Shaun's talking about a unit with the DC2 control system, not sure how much less a basic 4 pipe unit would be. Also reconditioned units do seem to come up from time to time ? I would be happy with direct mount and S30 to keep the weight down.could be worth talking to @CPS if you fancy a red one. (y)

In my head it has DC2, several buckets and new shirts, hats and pens. And ideally a machine that is attached too!!

The brand wouldn’t worry me as they both seem to be well regarded and I’ve been very happy with my old engcon on the duck . Be interesting to know though if either accommodates piped system better

Email all three - red yellow green.. you never know, someone may have excess stock they want to move on! Go s30.. keep the weight and size down. Direct mount is no bother, you’ll never take it off unless you do breaker work?

Go S30 unless you want to share attachments with a bigger machine in the future - S40 covers machines upto 6 tonnes.
You will need some sort of control system if you are having a hydraulic quick hitch below - if you are going to the expense of a tilty you might as well have an extra service through it so you can run a grab so this will also need to be switched by the same control system. If you just have a manual QH and no need for oil through then you could just plumb it in to your machine - I’m not sure if such a basic tilty is available thoug?
Rototilt R1 is their smallest unit. I have a feeling that the equivalent Engcon is a bit lighter (which is a good thing) but Engcon won’t allow any breaker use (you can use breakers under Rototilts if you are so minded!)…
Price them all up but make sure you are comparing apples with apples - SMP and Steelwrist are as well proven as the others already mentioned.

Iirc I'm paying £20k for ec206 - ss9 - (machines control system) gripper and 3 buckets - fitted.

I can only drive 1 machine at once so I think once you have the basics around you - truck/dumpers etc then it's the time to make the machine your sat on the most as efficient as possible.

That’s my thinking , also keeps transport weight down . I have a breaker but the wee Volvo runs that and it’s very occasional use .

You and me both. Can buy a Sherpa loader for that. Or a secondhand backhoe!
Its true you can buy a sherpa or backhoe for the same money as a tilty but it doesnt mean you should, if it was true a sherpa or backhoe was as useful to have around as an alternative to a tilty on your main machine then something like a sherpa would have gained more traction and the backhoe wouldn't be a rarity.

6/8t machines pretty much finished off the backhoe, you could argue that it's because the ops don't exist that can exploit them and tjat might be true but also having spent a few years on and off a backhoe I know which is most productive most of the time.

Local lad fired up round here with a nice new 3cx, going to be doing septic tanks, water treatment, drainage beds etc and so I thought that he must be either A. A top op or B. On a hiding to nowt anyhow 12 months later and he is no longer,I would of been much more concerned about him as competition if he'd of set off with a 6/8t all kitted out.

I mean it's a bit horses for courses but there is some truth there.

Without going into too much detail, I swapped my aging 3cx for a new 6Tonner and my 1.5mini&dumper for the Engcon setup. Best thing I ever did. Starting to compare old machines against brand new tilt rotators is just abit daft!

Definitely ask questions as my thread did. I had never used or seen 1 in anger when I got mine 2 months ago. A learning curve and some things aren't apparently available on the rototilt r1 such as saved position. @CPS i think deals with rototilt.
S40 is heavy but usable with a full 900 bucket but on the 0 wacker I want more weight.
