Ground screws

As title. Anyone had anything to do with them. Small scale. Customer been let down. Are they screwed in with a auger attachment.

I got a price to have some put in under a garage but in the end done job with a few hydraulic jacks because we couldn't get mini digger to it as contractor had a special tool on mini digger .You can also get a hand held machine to put them in got the papers here somewhere about them

I've never really looked at these, but this chap is the @Gunners of the screw anchor world

So i thought they would test them on downward load, but no its the opposite

I've seen then put in with a beaver pack and a hand held tool...basically a auger drive motor. The hire rate was phenomenal for it.

used to be a guy round here - mate of Simon's - who used to do them and ring beaming on top ... not seen him about in a while, but he was always busy

Like the video above. You would just use a digger for the power. But i suppose they sell there business on bad assess jobs. Looks like a nice niche job

Looks like easy money!
£500-£1000 for a site survey/investigation (ie pull-test/paid quote) and then sell them x number of screws at howevermuchyoucangetawaywith plus vat!
Does anyone know how this fits in around building regs?…

well like I said there was a guy round here who did well from it ... he wasn't using big wood screws though .. his were hollow, bit like these

then built a ring beam and support structure on them at any height above G/L you wanted

Think these guys do it..but very little info online about them! Yard is always empty nowadays so can only assume they have scaled back in recent years.

Not what the turning load pressure would be on something like that but I guess you could use and auger drive unit!

So what you saying mick. My auger drive unit wouldn't be man enough to drill them ankers in?

I don't know about those ones but the local solar panel farms are all installed with auger drive units. Was just an augertorque

Think you would want someone else to hold on it in case you hit a hard bit or stone apparently most lighthouses were built on ground screw piles put in by hand or should that be many hands turning them in

This is like the machine they wanted to do my garage with, at if I remember right was £800 per pile for up to 2mtrs and type of pile think they are called helix piles
