All this dog talk is making me want another but i dont think it will happen, how do you cope with them on site, can't leave them in the truck too long, can't always have them running about, clients can have dogs/cats which can be tricky, mud and shite getting trailed into truck from mucky sites in winter, kennels for them when you go away if you can't take them !

Bit of a game of chance finding the right character to fit the bill - breed gives a bit of a heads up but lots of different characters in the same breed.
Crossbreeds can be the best but who knows what you're getting.
I like lurchers but they are generally a bit of a handful when they are out and about and ive had some horrible cat killing versions !
Love Fell terriers but from working stock ,interesting to say the least.

f**k the customers 🤣 dog comes first
I had a customer complain that they found their cat with a damaged tail (ended up being a vet job) after we had been there with my old Jack Russell (who came everywhere with me, had been to their place many times and they liked him). There was no proof my dog had been near their cat (but it wouldn’t have surprised me either, he was a proper terrier when it came to anything furry!…). The customer whinged a bit, I ignored them, have worked there loads since with and without dogs.

I'm just trying to remember if I've ever not been paid on a job where there were resident dogs and the terriers couldn't come to work 🤔

Our Patterdale is an absolute liability on a job tbh. Fortunately most of the time I work more or less in the middle of nowhere and I can let him have a run around. Current job the customers are dog owners and quite understanding- he has so far sort of become mates with their dogs so it's a bit more relaxing- but as a runner will attest to😬😬😬, unexpected visitors are a problem and it's a shame cos I'd love to just let him run around at freewill. I think Terriers are a bit of a gamble but they are little characters for sure 😊
