I'll have to measure it and let you know. A rough idea is 20mm wear plate leading edge 2 to 3 inch
but that's a bucket![]()
You call that a root??
THIS is a root...

Undermined it with the Tilty and a narrow bucket, ripper is no use when the roots go down like that.
The one I made has done a great job (better then the cone splitterall this talk of rippers reminds me I need to get some profiles cut to create minesussed it last year and then went an' forgot all about it
will need it for dealing with a particular oak trees stump shortly 'praps![]()
That's nice but still doesn't matter how big the ripper is when the carrier is only a mini digger! No way I'd have got that size out without being able to undermine it. It only took an hour and a half!
planning 60mm Mog , at the tooth and a few 10 or 12 mm plates either side further back .... got a gert Bofors tooth for the tip to weld into itThe one I made has done a great job (better then the cone splitter) but if I made another one would make the back part of the ‘blade’ wider than the leading edge so as you pull it through it opens the wood out
Also I make it out of thick plate mine is only 40 mmand I’ve bent the tip to the side slightly

The most annoying part of it all is the arborist who cuts down the tree in the first place
Leave 6-8ft of the trunk and life would be soooo much easier, then cut the rest of the trunk up on the ground
Leverage is a great help![]()
Depends. A lot of the time the tree will just snap off, so you then want to take it down real low to avoid damaging any boom hoses whilst you get the ripper on it. But best to have the option to start with.THIS!
