Plant trailer choices.

I'm looking to make life easier and get a bigger plant trailer. I want to be able to get my 1850KG spider crane and a 575kg oil tank on top of my 350kg tracker carrier to site in one go. Basically 2.8 ton by the time you add a few straps etc.
Crane is 600mm wide and tracked carrier is 700mm wide so side by side on a GH1054 would take both.

2 things.
1. I would need to strap down to the centre of the bed, so would need to have central tie downs fitted. Dealer wasn't interested so would need local fabricator to sort. Any suggestions?
2. Always been loyal to IW and my dealer (Winston Pincombe) has always been great to deal with. But.. is there a better trailer that will meet my needs?

Ive bought an alumax indespension for my dx27 as the trailer i bought wasnt wide enough by 1 inch 🙄
6ft6 wide x 10 id say youd be on the right side of the law with weights etc and plenty of room to get in to strap them down , ive ply boarded the centre for loose loads and my roller

I doubt you'll beat a gh1054. Winston has them in stock at the mo and they quoted me pretty competitively the other week.👍

What’s a competitive quote look like for a 1054? Last new one I bought late 2018 was 2100, new one today 5200! Mental. Also got quoted for a new tri axle stock box. 2019 5400, new one today 10500 and 10 month wait…good business to be in 😀

If you have to wait 10 months to sell one to a cust then I reckon that's a s**t business to be in! I was quoted £3545+ for GH1054BT with spare and normal lights. Was plus 140 for the LED option. In stock as well.

Same as me. Didn't think that was too bad all things considered. The last 1054 I bought off them was mid 2020 and was £2500 plus vat

Theres alot of prats on eBay and the like trying to cash in on peoples perception that there's still a trailer shortage and 10 month waits and the like. The reality is for most proper long established dealers it's business as usual and yes prices hav gone up but not as much as some might like to have you believe.

Speak to Dan at Morris Bufton’s at Ludlow if that is within collection distance - he’s a real gent and is always bang-on with his prices.

what do you want for it @Richard Hunton .... looks to tick a few boxes and easily mod.-ed to suit requirements

steel has more than trebled in price -- galving up 250% -- components doubled in cost ... transport massively increased in cost, to say now't of industrial leccy costs up perhaps as much as 500% ..... plus there'll be a piss take element.
(my quarterly leccy bill averaged over a grand, more than ten years ago :rolleyes:)

er no .... means that the next ten months production is already paid/spoken for ... short of expanding to cope with demand (which could well prove short sighted) it's a pretty solid biz.

Unless manufacture isn't actually able to supply the dealer for 10 months...

because the next ten months production is already sold/allocated
Yes from the manufacturers perspective, I'm not really sure how it all works with how they ensure all their dealers get there fair allocation- but thought there could be a scenario where dealer x is simply not getting the supply because dealer Y and Z have a load on back order already. On which case that could be frustrating if your not able to fulfill your customers for 10 months.

When I ordered a 9x4 ifor plant trailer 2 years ago they logged onto the system and told me when the next factory build slot was available for what i wanted. If I wanted it I needed to pay a deposit, which I did. As you would expect the more common the trailer, the more slots were available- if I wanted the HD spec it would have been twice the wait, but the dealer were really helpful and converted a standard one to HD spec for me👍👍.
All worked out as it should.

Having picked up a few spare parts a couple of weeks ago there is definitely 'stock' of ifors coming through, but nowhere near like it was before the covid bs.

IW supply doesn’t seem to be dealer issue, just lots of stock boxes pre ordered and sounds like they produce in batches so I’m several batches away in the queue.
Tried all the usual suppliers up north for 1054, sone have stock but I’m not paying 5k! Understand costs have gone up, my own leccy bill was £1800 last month but don’t think cost of production will be more than double. Having recently bought an indespension though I’d still prefer to go IW if possible, just always much better built and resale holds up.

Small farm shop with butchery so big chillers and refrigeration stuff, along with workshop stuff etc. was £250/month not that long ago so never bothered with renewables as never stacked up. Looking at getting turbine and solar asap now! Little 6kw turbine is 40k now though, plus base, trenches/duct, cabinet. Thinking probably better to go much bigger like 50kw as vans, loaders, diggers, dumpers will all be electric within the 25 life expectancy unfortunately
