I wonder how you would go about mending a gas main in a hundred metres of water, the reports suggested that explosive detonation in the water just above the pipeline is the cause 🤔
close the vent valve ;) :unsure::sneaky:
now if I was a canny rusky, I'd have built in some vent valves into that line for this sort of situation .... wanna shut it off - oh we have a leak....... if that line was ruptured the bubble show'd be a lot more spectacular than at present

I wonder 🤔 , the explosions could be part of Putins pantomime or it could be that our embargo on Russian gas wouldn't stand in the event of a cold winter and independent minded Ukrainians have taken things into their on hands 🤔

pretty sure that ANY interventions by anyone would've been watched very closely by satellite and'd be all over you tube by now

Quite a common thing in the offshore world, you build a habitat sink it over the pipe and tie it onto the pipe then pump it full of air. Then divers can get in it and take off their suit and carryout any works. Have made a few of them back in the day.
made a few 'habitats' / shelters for pipeline welding - above water though - was a gang here abouts trial-ing mig-ing a 4ft line in the 90s and made them three drop over 'rooms', complete with floors, to operate in - water/draft proofed .... my bit worked well .. more than could be said for the resultant mig work on the pipe line ... the stick guys who followed on, loved the working environment in the 'rooms' .. total luxury
will have some paper photos somewhere

I’ve seen an old vid of pipeline welding, and they were using mig, might have just been the root was mig’d, but I was surprised to see it in the vid, and it was quite and old vid iirc. No idea where I saw it now though…

wasn't a firm called Lynx Pipelines was it ... their system was an automated/robotic set up clamped to the lines ... their downfall was crap gases and aside from the cost, couldn't use pure Ar, instead of a mixed shield gas, for some reason
porosity fail rate was unsustainable and they got offed, from the job ... pity - kept us real busy :giggle:

Have heard a few theories that the culprits might be the overside of the Atlantic!! 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Unorthodox ‘Friendly fire’ makes total sense, particularly with the new Norwegian pipeline opening at exactly the same time. Putin immediately loses one of his major bartering chips (and subsequent hold over the West).

Every civilian ship transmits its ID and position and can be monitored in real time (just like aircraft).
Not only can the location of every ship be seen, it can be recorded for later play-back - so it's easy to see which ships have been in an area.
For obvious reasons, military ships often do not broadcast their ID and location except when entering civilian ports.
They can of course be seen by AWAC aircraft and satellites.

Approx route of nord stream 1 and the site of the rupture.
You can see how much marine traffic passes through that area. It would be impossible for any surface vessel to go un-noticed.
The logical conclusion is the sabotage wasn't carried out by a surface vessel, but something else.
GPS guided bombs from aircraft could certainly do the job, but easily tracked. Something below water line would seem the hardest to track.
What's more, anyone able to track a sub may choose not to admit they know who was in the area because it would give away their military capability.

They haven't completely knocked out the lines though. 3 of the 4 have been damaged. One is still fine.... Its an interesting play by whoever's done it. And as Russia had already turned the taps off their end, I find it hard to believe they would want to a step further and damage them? Why bother. They have the upper hand in this gas standoff.

What a prat.
What annoys me about the anti anti vaxxers is that they're were so cocksure of themselves without anyone really knowing, as with all this it's all in a comparatively early stage of an ongoing research, experiment and development - surely no one can dispute that? So therefore on that basis I reckon most of us who see no immediate reason to have the vaccine have every right to wait until the "experiment" has finished and then make our decisions? Just so happens that the further along the process it goes the more I see less and less reason to have it. If it was just us unvaccinated catching and dying from it I may feel differently.
