New Maxus vans, as a tipper… anyone any experience?

I’m after a tipper with tool store.

This caught my eye.

£32k with 5 year 125k mile warranty, air con and cruise.

Tows 2.8 tons perfect for me, two ton digger and trailer.

Reviews are ok not outstanding.

I’m more interested in what support and backing from the Irish importer… anyone heard of them?
It’s the concern of buying a product that is hard to get parts or get warranty honored if the importer backs out in the recession.

It’s 10k less than a new tranny with way more warranty…. I might go for a look.

I think it’s LDV of old then renamed Maxes and produced by Chinese manufacturer SAIC? So yeah!
literally means nothing to me mate... wasn’t on my radar at all until I just started looking.

Not sure, I guess so as the twin wheels are always RWD? I guess the tyre size on the front wouldn’t lend itself to FWD.
they do a single rear wheel too, that maybe FWD.
Ill do some more digging when I’m back later.

I`ve noticed a dealer for them in Kidderminster, on the same road as the Ford garage, A442 I think. They had some tippers on the forecourt when I went past.

great wall gave a 120k/6 yr warranty .. but weren't around long enough to honour it
would rather sink 32k +vat into liugong/sany/sunwhateveritwas

They have been in UK for a good while now, I'd say 8 years at least.

Firm I know well have got the older shape on a 16 reg. They had a few things but all sorted under warranty.
It's abit basic and noisy but it's loaded up to maximum weight every day. Only thing it doesn't like is hill starts but not surprising when it's fwd and loaded as it is.

Looking on autotrader there’s a fair few new tranny tippers for not much more money but not one with aircon... all bought for fleet at poverty spec.

I do a fair amount of miles 20k so like aircon on the way home after a roasting day. Actually if you’re spending £30k plus on a vehicle it has to have aircon really!

Any other suggestions?

I now will only buy iveco. And has to be auto too.

much like the Japs, many decades ago ....... but they rapidly improved on what they copied .... ying tongs just dumb it down as low as they dare, as cheaply as possible

I don’t know anything about their chassis cabs (am waiting for a price for a tipper) but my MAN van is great, and you can pretty much spec them as basic/high as you like. They do a 3.5 tonne twin rear wheel chassis cab with 3.5 tonne tow capacity (not sure on the train weight though, it might not be 7 tonnes).
My van is a 3.5 tonner, 4x4, auto, 177bhp, 3 tonne tow capacity, goes like stink (110 plus…) and is a nice place to sit when dragging a heavy trailer 100 plus miles. It was circa £36k plus vat with a really high spec - I’m expecting a more basic tipper to be a chunk less (but they have gone up 10% since I ordered so we will see!).

Watch the towing weights on Transits - a lot of them can’t legally pull the skin off a rice pudding.
