Even the tractors are expensive. I'm trying to build a collection for my boy when he is old enough but it is so expensive even for just the Britain's and siku stuff. And now joal is gone there is a vast lack of playable models available.
I did manage to get a huge box of brand new in box siku from ebay for 50 quid. I could sell it for upwards of £400 but I've put them away for future birthday and Christmas presents

haven't bought any for years ... most of my collection were acquired over a long period of time and from when such models were hard to find and not so mass produced

Can't go wrong with siku. Got a fair bit and it's more robust than Britain's and they've had some stick . Had repair the odd hitch but my two lads still love it .

Yes my lad is only just 2 and has had 2 siku tractors for nearly a year. Apart from a hitch being bent from a drop they are intact. But the implements and more delicate tractors can wait.

I still buy a model ocassionally but like Druid i only look for models produced between say 1968 to about 88 especially Backhoe loaders, I have a whole bunch of NZG and Gescha/ Conrad and Shinsei catalogues, all of these models were produced in short runs and there were a fair few variations to find too, I even managed to find a Bronze plated and A Gold plated JCB 3C mk2. In later years Martin Henley produced some very nice limited edition JCB backhoes even a whitlock 370 and an MF200 and MF 2203/MF40.
