the trusty old workhorse who has done us proud has hit 4600 hours and has slowed right down and developed a whine like a slipping fan belt but its not the fan belt and its coming from the pump area.
guy driving it last weeks when I was away said it'd slowed down, I checked hydraulic oil level and it was a bit low so went to to pit up and the filter holder wasn't there!
some fishing later and an arm in very hot hydraulic oil on a hot day the suction filter was not on the pipe spigot it should have been on, lay in tank sideways not sure how long this has been like that but can't pop off unless the main lids off on hydraulic tank. fitted back on and the machine wouldn't move!
anyway ive fitted a new filter and it'll move but its slower and this whine.
im thinking the worse and pump has been contaminated or pilot pump on end and seems to be running hotter than usual when sat in it unless that's just current heat wave
fitter wants it back at yard to test pressures and said to hook breaker up and test with breaker as that's non piloted to see if its main pump or pilot pump.
kinda of knew it was time for a new 3 tanner but was hoping to eek a bit more out the old girl
