Bought this for 26k 3.5 years ago. Used mainly at weekends and for towing my racecar etc. Its had a service, prop bearing and rear disks and pads and some power flex bushes on the front end. I went from a new-ish Dmax and don’t think i’d want to go back. Yes they have the known crank issues, but what doesn’t have issues these days, if it breaks It would be fixed.

I nearly bought a Disco 4 but just too much of a gamble in my book. My (well regarded) landy garage said he wouldn't have one but they keep him in business!
It's a tricky one- I'm guessing you need the 3.5t element? Shogun and jeep grand Cherokee could be options too? Think the Disco is the nicest looking out of them it has to be said

Only 2 seats though on the commercial, I’ve just been to Devon for 10 days with family 2 adults a 5’8 14 year old and a baby in my amorak. Can’t do that with commercial disco but now looking at Touareg etc for holidays as lado too big to be in the back lol

My amoraks on 130k miles problem free dads on 140k.

Neighbours 3.2 ranger blew engine on motorway last week with all them in, apparently that hot can’t strip anything off it exchange lads won’t touch it been quoted £7k for new engine
Is that the V6 amarok? Plant chap around here has one. Not much to beat them for towing I think he said but would prefer his Hilux off road

Supposedly the new ones have the same engine in them as the d4 engine mentioned earlier with crankshaft problems.

Think one of you is on the pickups and the other is still thinking of discos. On the ford/vw pickup front i think only 2 litre diesel at the mo and rumours of v6 later with the vw badge on. I can't see any advatage for the customer from the ford/vw tie up tbh all I see is 2 big companies gonna end up trying to fight between each other to make more out of it and a drop in quality of the vehicles which on both sides weren't as well built before the merger as they had been.

Yeah the v6 diesel is the same engine as in the discos. It's actually a Renault engine but the rights have been sold a lot and it appears in a lot of vehicles of which the amarok is the latest.

As in the new one?
Current V6 block has been a VAG engine for years. Was in Passat's 20 years ago!

manufacturers've been 'sharing' engines for decades though .... thought the Passat was a 5 lung lump ? ..... which was a lovely engine from Audi

It also says 3.5t towing weight, was it 2.7t or 3t on the old/current ones? which was about the only thing stopping me looking at them.

Looks mega! Bet it’s £50k plus though for anything with a decent engine…

3.2t on mine was biggest cap, hence held a lot of folk off.
If new ones anything like mine and it's 3.5t they'll sell like hot cakes.
Delivery 3rd quarter next year...read that 2024 then😆
