Hy all, my name is Vasi and am looking to start a small business at the centre of wich would be a mini excavator. What i actually would have liked would have been the jcb cx1 backhoe loader as looks like it's an extremely versatile piece of kit however it is out of my price range,so i was almost set on the 8026 cts mini digger and maybe later on I was going to buy an used bobcat front loader /similar.
Im pretty new to the game so just stumbled upon this italian machine the Venieri vf 133C wich looks like is pretty similar to the cx1. Still waiting on a quote but pretty sure it is closer to 8026 than to the cx1. Engine apparently by Kubota.
Anyone has any experience with it, any advice, opinions, etc? Will be used by a general construction company, plus some landscaping etc
Thank a lot and happy Sunday all

You've going to find that pretty limiting in terms of the space require to operate, not being able to swing round to dump behind you etc.

Minimum of three tons weight, so you need a lorry to move it in the UK (and europe?)

I think you would find that a 2.7t mini digger and something like a Multione 8.4 that will confortably handle a ton will give you 100% more output for around 50% more cost (guessing here, let us know what they quote you!) You'll be able to take just the digger if that's all thats needed, or run both together.

With three JCB 1CX machines I can vouch for their versatility. It's an excavator, loader and dumper in one package and the Venieri would be the same.
I'd definitely go for a 4in1 bucket though. I use my 4in1 bucket in every job from picking up the final pile of soil to grabbing waste and logs and wouldn't be without it.
You're only limited by onsite space and the ability to move the machine. Not a problem for me as I have a decent sized truck to transport it.

that was my biggest issue with JakieB ... that and boulder size, eventually ...
don't under-estimate a BHL of any size Doob .. seem to recall you considering one a while back and Mr Gunns and can always road it, if it ain't too far/local

Yea- a proper size backhoe! Not a toy sized one 🤣

I don’t regret going down the 2.7t / Multione route. Both excel at their respective tasks, and when paired together even with just one operator can really up the output compared to a digger and dumper so long as the work involves more than just bulk reduce dig.

But the beauty of a full size backhoe is you yet alot of power onto a site without the need for haulage. If your going to be trailing a 1cx around on a trailer to get lesser digging capabilities than a 1.8t I can't quite see the benefit. A 1.2 and small tracked dumper on the same trailer would be a more capable/versatile outfit I'd reckon

The 1cx is a great looking tool but apart from AusDave, I've yet to see anyone really make one work. Having had a play with one, they aren't as good as a 3t digger on the back end and don't match up to an equivalent skid steer for their weight either on the front end. Then there's the cost which is not far off a 2.8t/ avant 750 combined price and arguably as Doobin says, both better machines for what they are good at. Ultimately I think its transport that kills the concept in this country.
I am still considering a proper backhoe, and I think I could make an older one earn its money in my fleet on some jobs. I'd have to learn how to drive it properly first! And you would have to have the right work for it - but I think I could make one work. I'll let the prices come down a bit first mind!
And it would scratch that itch I've had since I can remember of always wanting to own one. You cant put a price on that:cool:

Never mind a 3 ton I doubt the 1cx would come close to out digging a 1.8tonner. the arm is tiny on it. The one I've seen weighs 2.8t all in so could just be towed on a flatbed but yeah I think you'd struggle to get enough of the right kind of work for one really. The full sized backhoe however is a sentiment I entirely agree with though. I keep flirting with the idea- especially in summer time. And quite fancy learning a new skill set tbh. Operating mini diggers has somewhat become old hat.🥱

Ok guys thanks all you seem so knowledgeable i can barely understand some terms but I gather these all in one concepts tend not to do anything quite right. Still ill let you know the price on that Venieri once ive got it.
Going back to mini diggers then, my feeling is the 8026 cts would be about the best. The thing is if I'm to settle for a mini digger I'm going to at least get away without having to use a 7.5t wagon but will still be on the absolute edge with most 3.5t+trailer combo weight wise.
So what I'm asking is what you guys think is the next best option that would weigh under 2.7t? Also i imagine most other diggers are cheaper that the £42k i was quoted with 3 buckets + quick hitch.
Thank you

You’re looking around 30/32k for a new 2.7t, and the same again for a Multione 8.4SK. So my guesstimate of 50% extra cost for the pair wasn’t far off.

And I guarantee you they are way more versatile than that compact backhoe loader.

I kept thinking about a full size backhoe, just for digging power that you can move yourself. But then white diesel became law, the price of diesel doubled and the cost of a backhoe went mental. I like my small kit! I’m starting to measure accurately my diesel use, and it’s much better than I thought when filling up from cans. The Kubota compact tractor is a star, burning around 3l per hour flail mowing.

If you really want to try the compact backhoe concept, I’d try to find a fairly recent secondhand Badger. You will loose a savage amount on an unknown machine like that Italian one once you decide it’s a pain to work with.

Sadly the 42k quote its for jcb 8026 cts wich is a hair larger than most 2.7t. And with Oct delivery 🙄 cx1 pricing is absolutely ridiculous, it costs about the same as an 8t cx3 that's why i was looking into the Venieri thing 🙈

Surely a mini digger and dumper would be best? A backhoe is not something i often seen or would associate with general building sites or landscaping project's, more often on road works and the like. There's a lovely looking one operating near me at the moment (A350 Melksham), looks absolutely awesome, can't say blame you for wanting one! What would a typical job be for your company?

Why dont you start with some tidy used kit ?
Re backhoe I spent a few years on and off a 3cx and its some learning curve to get the best from them..... be much better getter mini if your new to the job.
