Thought I'd start my own thread to keep some of my witterings in one place.
Day to day I do landscaping and small plant work with a side of installing acoustic enclosures and a few other things.
I've got a few vehicle and machine projects, and my old tractors, which my friends refer to as my junk, scrap or if they're feeling generous, museum exhibits!🀣

My latest acquisition is this old petter engined dumper. With seized brakes, seized clutch, seized steering I'm not sure it'll ever do a job again!
Paid Β£100 for it, which didn't seem too bad as the engine is decent and its pretty solid.
Yesterday I managed to knock it into gear and get it moving forwards and backwards, so maybe there is a bit of hope for it πŸ˜€
Plan to free up the clutch, brakes and throttle, then worry about the steering as I think that's the bit that'll actually need parts...

Fordson Super Dexta, used for log splitting, harrowing, topping, flail mowing and shows. Not the best starter but with a decent battery and glow the plugs and it goes πŸ‘Œ
Lovely little tractor, not a show piece but presentable, I normally leave the log splitter on it for shows.
Gearstick sheared the other day, which was a bit of a worry, but a new pair of sticks sorted it, no long term damage and it no longer has a land rover hi low knob πŸ˜€
Throttle lever and handbrake are next up to be sorted πŸ‘

I've a certain fondness for the Dexta. Earliest tractor I ever got to be passenger on, sitting atop the mudguard hanging on to the guard rim.
Recall my first tractor related injury being on this, driver dropped the 3pt linkage with a linkbox on behind, trapping my foot on top of the axle trumpet.
No harm done, must have been 7-8yrs old at the time, bones were probably still flexible :p

Freelander headlight bulb, very easy, 2 bolts and a clip to take the whole unit out πŸ‘
Picked up a length of timber to prop the bonnet with, bloody frozen to another one, suddenly let go, bashed my thumbnail πŸ˜‘ 😳 Most painful thing I've done for years, including smacking the top of my head with a crowbar (accidentally πŸ˜† 🀣)

Hertford to Edinburgh in the morning, better too many 'just in cases' than not enough πŸ˜† πŸ˜€
Back by the scenic route on Sunday with step sister and her husband in an MX5 so need to take a few precautions given the weather...

Should be a fun trip with the snow on the snooze just now
No snow up here at the moment, just bloody cold.
Freelander eating up the miles, think I'd have done it in one but the noises from the passenger seat became too loud about 300 miles in πŸ˜† 🀣 its like a mini range rover, with a furnace for a seat heater πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ
Few pints, couple of hefty steaks and a couple of pina coladas, great day out

Fair bit of sleet and very icy yesterday morning, had to give the mx5 a couple of pushes on the side streets near their hotelπŸ˜†
Pretty much all melted by midnight last night and bright sun this morning πŸ‘Œ
Totally different story on the A1 home, absolutely bucketing down, worst driving conditions I can remember for a long timeπŸ˜• fair bit of dead wood and branches down on the roads at home.
Luckily the 2 in the mx5 decided to take an extra day and went to Whitby, apparently had no rain at all. Really would not have wanted to be in that car on the a1 today, bad enough in a tall red freelander, never mind a little black go cart!
Great weekend though 😎😎

Possibly my new favourite tool! So much reach and power. Used it clearing up a windblown, hung up Ash this morning, made it so easy as I could just slice it up in manageable pieces that landed in an easy to handle fashion, virtually bonfire readyπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ Then a nice clean cut on the 8 inch willow limb it was caught on, 15ft in the air, no ladder, no climbing πŸ˜€ πŸ‘ followed by cutting the limbs under tension while stood nicely back. Brilliant tool.

I’ve the biggest Stihl engine powered one, it’s amazing how much you can cut down. Takes about 5 times longer to tidy up after yourself than going around nipping low branches off etc.
